I'm surprised we heard about this in such a short amount of time. I would have expected a report from Hyams around Christmas or so....

Didn't know him until yesterday when I listened to the radio show. He certainly came across as a condescending @-hole.

I guess Hymas got the "trick"? The rest of us Vol fans the "treat"!!!

He spent most of the week letting everyone know how he berated Lane for his Referee comments,To let everyone know he's such a big man in the journalistic world in Knoxville.
I know for a fact if he thinks for minute this is the last time he's gonna be shut out on a scoop,He's got another thing coming.
What would you rather have a angry looking Ole Lesbian who's full of there self reporting the news or a moderately "Hot" blonde reporting it ?
I'll take the dingy blonde anyday, and so would this coaching staff.....
No one cares if you think you know anything about football Jimmy

I turned off the game when they came out in black jerseys. Who won?

Really man? Who cares what they wear they are still our team. Quit being negative. I thought it was a bad idea, but actually being at the game and seeing them, they didn't look that bad. I actually thought they looked pretty good.

lmao @ that fool

Jimmy before the game "I have personally spoken with Mike H and he said no black

One of the things UT wanted with the black jerseys was shock value at the beginning of the game. If Hamilton or anyone else had let it out the shock is gone. Hyams is going to have to face the fact that he is not going to have special privi to info on this team. I question his qualifications on being a sportswriter anyway. Just look at the guy, what kind of sport has he ever played anyway,Marbles at the playground?

Jimmy Hyams is not the only Vol fan offended by the black jerseys. Almost all of the fans over the age of 30 or offended. Alot will not tolerate Kiffin doing what he pleases. Slive has just about had his fill. Obviously Hamilton has no control and is a liar. Some high powered donors will make the difference.

Hyams needs to get off his high horse. The whole point is that it was a surprise. If Hyams had scooped the story, well then there's no more surprise.

Do you cheer for the team or the jersey?

It looked fine for Halloween night. The players liked it and we won.

Pull the stick out of your butt and move on.

Guru? Ha! Okay, Not a Guru of sarcasim.

I thought you were gonna pack your family up and leave if we wore black jerseys. Maybe you should just quit being a fan, people around here would appreciate it.

Offended by a jersey? Good grief, they went to Hamilton to get the approval.

And Hyams is no Vol fan

I'm pretty sure if Kiffin keeps winning, the high powered donors will let it slide if UT comes out in black once a year.

I think there are some on here like that. Well, they haven't been on since the Auburn game, but you know what I mean.

no way they do it once a year. Too much money that doesn't want it at all. I think they can do it once but more and they're pushing it

I trust that you on that, but why is it such a problem?

I'm not saying become like Oregon or wear Black for the Bama game, but would it really be a huge problem if they come out for some weaker opponent in black every now and then?

Even if Hyams would have been informed of the black jerseys he would have been against it. He has always been a negative voice against Kiffin. I personally liked the black and would like to see it once a year at the game of choice with the player's. They would look better with orange helmets and white "T".JMO

The only money that matters is firmly in Kiffin's corner. He'll dress his team in what he wants, when he wants. Hillbilly, tradition sucking rubes be damned.

I am close to 50 and was not offended by the black jerseys. Your comment about toleration is the mindset of the problem we have had to endure the past 16 yrs. As far as Slive having his fill :eek:lol: the hell with Slive he can be replaced. Hamilton had to approve of the black jerseys and it is great he is supporting our coaches in football as well as basketball. The "high powered donors" can kiss it as well, let them take their ball and go home for all I care. The good ole boy regime need to learn they do not pull the coaches strings on the direction of the football program.

If wearing black means getting several more studs in here, then that's what kiffin will do... in a perfect world, I prefer the orange and white, but the reality is that the kids who can play like the black in the uniform...

when the recruits start rolling in here and winning, no one will care what they're wearing.....

Oh yeah.... Now I understand. Thanks for the clarification! :fool:

My point was that your point was poorly stated and unclear. That's why my simple logic holds up.

If you're trying to say that there is an emotional attachment to the orange of the Big Orange, then NO S**T!!!

Personally, I think that there should be a jersey change, but all black or all orange is the wrong answer. I think that it should be a combination of the two.
Not like the Bengals, but maybe slightly inspired by their “creative” design.
I must say that while I was born and raised in the South, I have always liked Michigan’s helmets. They’re sleek looking.
And that’s why I think our art department could help out (though I’m sure that would never happen). It’s all about badass designs these days. The Vols need to look more badass.
It’ll help their attitude.
(note: I'm not saying that we should change our uniforms that much--but maybe we should think outside the box just a bit.)

I mean, UT doesn’t exactly have a threatening mascot. A hound dog isn’t particularly threatening--unless you’re an escaped convict or something. :p
I must say that even a gamecock is more threatening than poor ol’ Smokey (I love Smokey, but you know what I'm saying...maybe...).
And something should be done about that.
That's why I fully support a jersey change for the UT football team.
The problem is, too many fans are too conservative (and, to be sure, I'm as fiscally conservative as a person can be). So a "democratic" vote would probably not result in much of a "change." :eek:lol:

read the post again. i wasn't the one who posted that. regardles though, the guy's point was still crystal clear. he said that things like this lose their luster if you start doing it too often, and that's entirely true. the fans and everyone got up for it because it was so different and rare to see. so if you make it a more frequent then it's not going to get the fans excited as much. not really flawed logic.

The fact that "old school" people have been upset by black is kind of ironic to me considering that Tennessee wore black (1920) before orange (1921). It is what it is, a one game thing. Have fun with it and let it go. We will be back in orange next week. GBO.
