Thanks for the article...but, as is usually the case when you tease a "monster story", this was a letdown.

I talk with him a few times a week ... I know more than what's published ... I know that during this season, after this article more might be interested.... I'll just leave it as that.

Nice story James. He looks like a bad mofo. How strong is his commitment to the Vols?

Currently, Irvin is verbally committed to play for Tennessee and may be headed that way after his season at Mt. SAC ends.

James it does seem you are trying to give LSU, Miami and USC some hope with this sentence.

If he wants to come in and learn the technique that will make him famous in the NFL, he needs to come learn under Monte

No.. hardly a teaser ... jcfootball labeled Irvin as a 5-star... eventually schools are going to know about him ..

Eventually?

He's verbally committed to play defense for Monte Kiffin and Ed Orgeron.

I'd imagine that, based upon their evals and subsequent scholarship offer, other schools are well aware of him already.

Honestly speaking .... if you're Irvin... would you HONESTLY and UNQUESTIONABLY make a direct commit to Tennessee and say your going there with no doubt...

after USC and MIAMI and LSU is luring you?

USC and Miami are definitely understandable....playing for Chavis (as opposed to Monte), on the other hand..

If his fam is still in Atlanta, I like our proximity and our first offer status. I guess he could go join the Willie Martinez show..

The way our defense has been looking, YES. Play for the best defensive line coach AND defensive coach in the nation, YES. To play for a team that likes to sack the QB, A LOT, YES! If he were to say hes going to a soft verbal at this point I could see us just dropping him with so many top tier D-line commits already...

Honestly? If I were uncertain, I wouldn't bother committing.

That's sort of the thing about a "commitment"...by making one, it kinda suggests that you are HONESTLY and UNQUESTIONABLY comfortable with the decision.

Really? So you are suggesting he is definitely a soft verbal and may decommit?

"Soon-to-be-Volunteer Bruce Irvin looks excellent and ready. His spirits are high and he’s counting down till kickoff at 1 p.m. Saturday." Interesting, you wrote this 2 weeks ago.

I have a feeling he's not UT bound.......... not one mention of UT and what he thinks about his future school.... and James, you don't really seem like you're pulling for him to go to Tennessee either (Why no question about how he feels about Tennessee and whether he's excited to play for Monte Kiffin, etc...). Which is fine, but it looks like you consider LSU, Miami, USC, etc to be better fits for him. Comments like, "He's currently committed to Tennessee and he may end up there...." is not going to make you many friends on here.

Can you guys chill a little bit? You're proactively freaking out over a nonexistent de-commitment. I am usually the first to point out that kids change their minds constantly, but Bruce has done nothing to indicate he's going to bail out.

Plus, ask him if he saw the Tennessee game on Saturday and wants to decommit after seeing the Monte Kiffin defense? Or if he watched USC lose to a team that went 0-12 last year, or LSU steamroll ULL?

No way this kid decommits. If he wants to play in the NFL, he will learn and play under Monte.
