We support Jon Crompton

I just don't see how Stephens can do any worse than Crompton. Some of the throws Jon made down field today were just awful.

Either play Nick, or go to a single wing.

Good lord. Have all the Fulmerites now become Cromptonites?!? This guy is an absolute cancer. You can't beat good teams or even decent teams when they know that you can't throw the ball downfield. Our opponents are actually hoping that we'll throw the ball downfield because they know that Crompton will throw far more picks than touchdowns (unfortunately, our crappy QB can't play every game against Western Kentucky).

Our crappy QB is better than the other QBs on our team.
You will lose this argument. If he wasn't the best, he wouldn't have been on the field.

Yeah. Crompton played amazing.

Brought it down one from the 3 interception performance last week.

He's on his way to the heisman.

On and on this goes....some folks still looking for the light at the end of the tunnel for Crompton.......

....He has been and remains the weakest link for a team that realistically should be 3-0 at this point.

JC was not part of the game plan for defeating Fla, his role was not to screw this thing up and give some others the opportunity to step up and get the win....sadly, he still managed to kill two drives with his arm.

You mean a 3rd down play and a 4th down play? Talk about drive killers...If you're gonna use this argument, you should at least attack the point that we run it on first and second forcing 3rd and longs.
...Hell, a deep pass intercepted and returned for little or nothing is better than giving James the ball to return for 7.

Are you kidding me? He didn't throw but maybe 5 balls down field (past 5 yards). 90% of our passes were to our running backs.

And yes that is the playcalling.

But why is the playcalling that way?

Because Crompton sucks.

Give me a break.

Exactly. People shouldn't be so naive to look at the statistics - look at the play-calling. With a better quarterback we're not having to throw 3 yard dumps or lateral passes.

Crompton is not an SEC-caliber quarterback. Period. With a better quarterback our playbook is expanded and we win this game.

My opinion on crompton: Do i support him? yes. He is a vol. ..Do i want him as a QB? No.
His reaction time is wayy to slow and that showed when he threw it out of bounds. He had the whole left dang side to run but he threw it.almost into the stands at that.. I think that was my turning point on how i fill for him. He could have picked up some good yards off that. But he just sat there., He is the weakest link in the team, and as the saying goes. you are only as strong as your weakest link. I will support him as a vol and cheer him on... but i will not be sad when he is gone, just my .02

He didn't have the best game, but people who are calling for his head for this game are wrong. Period.
...not his head, just the bench. I mean it when I say that he has a HUGE amount of "intangibles". I, as I was writing this, just looked at Ryan Mallets third TD pass against Ga in the first quarter. It would be different if the recievers were'nt open and the line were not blocking. His inability effects EVERYTHING from the blocking to team chemistry. I hate it for the kid, but, frankly, I think he's got a big dose of arrogance mixed in with his IQ challenge that prevents him from growing and even hastens his digression. He played better today. Yes

Support him...fine. But put a clipboard in his hand. He is absolutely horrible and should never ever see the field again. The death threats are a bit much, but how pathetic is it to get on here and imply that he did anywhere near a good job. Turn on ESPN and watch Ryan Mallett. That is a GOOD quarterback. Makes perfect throws to receivers that are in the secondary...not on the line of scrimmage or behind it. If not for Crompton we probbaly win last week and today. He is a liabilty and loses games for us. Saying Crompton even did ok makes me wonder if you have ever seen the quarterback position played correctly?????

Crompton is supposedly an absolute stud in practice. However, in an actual game he has all the competence of a 10-year-old QB trying to play in the SEC. I dont give a damn HOW much better Crompton plays in practice than our other QB's because Crompton has shown over and over and over again that he has ZERO ability to play well in a game. He's had his chance. He's had his second chance. Hell, he's had his third chance. HE SUCKS! It's time to move on with him occupying his rightful place on the bench.

11-19 for 93 yds with 2 picks and 0 TD's. The kid is awful as a QB. End of story. He didn't cost us the game because he wasn't given the chance too like everybody else has already said.

You must have missed a few games last year.
Were you at a wedding that weekend?

Losing to Wyoming means automatic benching for your career (to me).

I think Bray will be the man next year. For that reason and for recruiting cred, Kiffin is going to stick with Crompton as long as he can...

Prediction.......JC has a steller game next week and all the Cromptonites will overdose on Kool-aid....again.

What's worse?
11-19.....93 yards....2 interceptions (4 quarters against Florida)
3-9........27 yards....2 interceptions (2 quarters against Wyoming)

If you're truly on the Lane Train, then support Crompton. I think I'll take the coaches opinions on the QB issue, rather than reading opinions from us bozos on a message board.

If Kiffin is smart he gets Stephens playing time against Ohio so that he's prepared before we play Auburn, Bama and Ole Miss.

So he can perfect the art of the interception?

Edit...nevermind.
He's already proved he doesn't need any help in that department.

I never said I wanted Stephens to replace Crompton. I completely agree with you that Stephens is worse. It's just pathetic how bad a program like UT can be soooo bad at QB.

He did fine today all but the throw out of bounds pass on the last drive... The two picks were no problem today.. He did not loose the game for us... We should have won... But I think we are good for the rest of the season.
Nah, he finds a way
