3rd down conversions:
UF: 27-56, 48% against UT
UT: 18-54, 33.3% against UF

Red zone offense
UF: 14-16, 87.5% against UT
UT: 7-11, 64% against UF

Turnovers Gained
UF: 9 gained against UT
UT: 2 gained against UF

Rushing yards
UF: 163 carries, 591 yards, 3.62 YPC
UT: 100 carries, 188 yards, 1.88 YPC

These are the main statistical categories that UT needs to win in order to beat Florida tomorrow.

Interestingly enough:

Sacks
UF: 4 against UT
UT: 9 against UF

UF hasn't sacked a Tennessee QB since the 4th quarter of the 2006 game. But it doesn't really seem to have an impact on the outcome of the rivalry. Interesting.

See TOs and rushing for some perspective about materiality of sack differential.

The 3rd down stats mean absolutely dick, what with "3rd and Chavis" out of the picture.

Actually, since we have a completely new staff and scheme on both sides of the ball, all of these stats mean zip. This is a completely new situation. Nothing from years past has any bearing whatsoever with the possible exception of the players' mindset.

The lack of "Third and Chavis" is a big part of the UT-UF equation which could make a difference.

It looks like the sacks don't matter unless it leads to Florida turnovers.

My point was that sacks don't matter when you turn it over 4.5x as much and are hammered in the running game.

Ainge's infamous intentional grounding in 2006 was the same as a sack and was one of the key plays in that loss.

It's also been said around here for years and yeas and years. It's clever, but tired.

Honestly, I had just missed it before. Then again, tired and not so clever (see e.g. "gators") seems to have found a home here, so why not something that actually cracks a smile?

LSU is even using it now.

There are a lot of things that have found a home here, but just won't take the hint to leave (present company excluded :shades:)

The numbers don't mean anything, they just show where UF has been winning statistically against UT.

In order for UT to have a chance, they have to reverse those trends. That's all.

You'd miss me if I were gone.

But back to football, what's your winner and score prediction for tomorrow?
