The Swamp Horror Stories Thread

That probably garners the same reaction as it would with the UTK student body.

I guess you have to say it.

If gator fans are already courteous to visitors (as our gator posters have led us to believe) then why would they need to send such an email?

Two words: Lane Kiffin.

Seriously, I remain worried about this. I hope we have extra security down there between the fans and the Vol players and coaches. All it takes is one drunken idiot to really turn the thing into a melee and the media I am sure will be looking for a story along those lines to develop.

Should be plenty of ambulances for you to chase then.

Kiffin garnered UF's fanbase its reputation. Please. Kiffin's comment to boosters is now a preemptive excuse for more redneck work. Good Lord.

They just sent the students this lovely email. Hopefully we behave ourselves because it just makes us look bad when we start fights and throw things at opposing fans, it embarrasses the real fans.

Re: Florida-Tennessee Football Game

The University of Tennessee is one of our great school rivalries, and the
Florida-Tennessee football match-up is one we eagerly await each year. The
longstanding tradition wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for the
mutual respect and the on-field talent upon which these two schools pride
themselves.

As we cheer on the Gators this weekend, we all need to remember we
represent the Gator Nation. Let's show the Volunteers what that means by
treating our guests with courtesy and respect when you see them in our
area restaurants as well as in and around Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on
Saturday.

We want the Tennessee players and fans to recall Gainesville as a place
where they faced a determined opponent with friendly, supportive fans.

We're proud of the successes Urban Meyer and the UF football team have had
in recent years and we wish them the best for the remainder of the season.

Have fun and go Gators!
Good luck with that overture, Jordan....

There are drunken, rude, obnoxious redneck fans at every school in the SEC, including UT---it's part of the environment.

I hope so too. I am seriously worried also.

Could you elaborate on precisely what Kiffin has done to offend Gator fans?

Funny sign on campus... SAE has painted their lion out in front of their house saying, "SAE welcomes Layla Kiffin"

That's perfect bulletin board material. Somebody please forward this message to the head coaches office asap.

Good point, and reminded me to put all of this in context.

Cliffs Notes version: (1) Said he looked forward to beating them and (2) Mistakenly accused their coach of a minor rules violation.

So like you, I'm not sure why there's all the outrage.

This will be my 7th trip to the swamp. I have never had a problem with Florida fans. You will see as much visiting fan abuse in Knoxville. Put 100,000 rabid SEC fans in a stadium and you will always have jerks.

i have gone to four games to gainesville and live in jacksonviile, which is the most populated city of gators here in florida. collierville, you are right, i've never had an issue with fans. if you mess with them, you WILL have a mess. they just want to have fun and tomorrow if any tennessee fans do talk smack saturday, they've lost their minds.
