I'm still behind him. And I'll be behind him after the Gators drop a half dollar or more on us Saturday. He has the ability to get us where we want to be. You have to crawl before you walk and run.

My fellow Vols, this is the right attitude:

“I know my team is going to be ready to play,” Tennessee linebacker Rico McCoy said. “I’m confident. I hear the stuff about [Florida] not taking knees and [saving] timeouts.

“You know, if we leave ourselves in that situation, go ahead and do it. If you can do it, do it. But we’re ready to play. We’re going to fight until the last second is off the clock.”

He showed his true colors earlier this summer. But he'll learn.

Yeah he showed his true colors by saying we'd beat the gators this year...wahhhh. Cry a little more...so what if you beat us? I'm so tired of hearing about how awful he is for making such an asinine statement.
I for one am glad Kiffin isn't afraid to talk a little. The gators are just mad because Fulmer bent over and let you rape him for the last few years. Sorry Lane actually wants to win. Stop crying about it. If you're so good, you'll beat the tar out of us and move on to win the NC like all of creation has already given you anyway. Shut up about it.

Quoted from the article: “There are some old-school people who are loyal to Fulmer who were a little taken aback by some of the things [Kiffin] has said. But I think everyone is at least willing to be patient. Everyone is eager to give him a chance.”

And Kiffin is eager to make the most of it.

Yep :)

really good article. although it does have one minor flaw....

Kiffin’s knowledge of X’s and O’s was so impressive to Al Davis that the Oakland Raiders owner hired the then-31-year-old as head coach in 1997. But less than two years later Davis fired him when the two couldn’t get along.

:p

still a good read though

He is the next Spurrier IMO. We will soon set the SEC on fire. If anything, this guy is a winner. What other 34-year-old has already been the head coach of an NFL program and major SEC school as well as coached at USC?

the SEC will have to drop off substantially for anyone to dominate it for an extended period as Spurrier did. I respect what Spurrier did, but UT was the main comp every year. That means his toughest rival was led by Fulmer. Most of the other SEC programs were struggling through those years.

I agree with the way that the SEC competition level has adjusted. While i'm not sure of the flat out dominance of any team in particular (although I am waaaay over Fla) I do remember the hatred I had for Spurrier at Fla. It wasn't just that he won, but he won and had the attitude that drove me crazy...to compete against and lose to.
The rest of the SEC had better keep an eye on our Vols, because as much as they hate CLK, he and his staff are building a pretty wicked machine in knoxville.

Spurrier's reign really was about 8 years or so. I think that Meyer, with two national championships in four years, plus being poised for another legit run, is certainly in a position to have Florida routinely top of the heap for a similar period. If he stays, of course.
