Cromp clearly suffers from anxiety----can't handle pressure. Millions of Americans have the same problem, and are prescribed certain drugs to help overcome the "nerves". Question---would it be ethical for the Med staff to do the same for Cromp before a big game? I know the players get shot with pain killers for physical ailments---so what about Jonathon's mental ailment?
Is there an NCAA rule regarding this?

If Cromp played to his abilities, the Vols would have a real shot this week.

Interesting suggestion. Problem is would this make him even slower in making his reads against a D that will come at him and make him make a quick read and pass to beat the rush.

EEEEEWWWWWWW I like this! Maybe throw in a little Prozac for his concentration as well.

Easier than a lobotomy or electric shock treatment, so give it a try.

Muscle Relaxant is not what I had in mind-----just something to keep Cromp on an even keel and bolster his confidence. Beta-blockers are designed for that--with no noticeable side effects--or dependency issues.
A light dose would do the trick.
Oh, I know. Your post just reminded me of that video, which always made me laugh.

I wonder if they have considered hypnosis.

I'm guessing you've never taken one of these medications. Trust me, he wouldn't be able to play a football game very well. You'd be better off just having him shoot some whiskey before the game.

Ginko biloba- or something like that they keep pushing on the radio to increase focus and mental awareness. I don't take it so I can't remember the name:scare::question:

To the contrary---my friend. Had the same problem. Pressure built up to the intolerable point from too many irons in the fire and I had an anxiety attack. Took a year to get over-- (22 years ago) so I know the deal. I don't need the drugs anymore, but at that time they were a welcome intervention. I promise you none of us would want to be under the pressure that Crompton is.

But when you were on the medications, were you capable of playing a football game?

Evidently Crompton's inability to translate his perfect play in practice (WKU) to the real game (UCLA) doesn't tell you anything.

It tells me we're trying to fix a 5th year senior who looked just as horrific against UCLA (or worse) as he did against teams last year under a different staff and with a different offense.

It tells me that without piling on the kid, it's pretty much a lost cause and that a little anxiety medicine isn't going to suddenly make him toss 70% completions and no interceptions when he's facing good competition. He doesn't deserve some of the attacks he's encountered, but without any ability to medically examine and analyze him, there's just no point in prescribing medication for bad quarterback play.
