I Am Amazed By The Kool-Aid

Listen, I spent seasons expecting to lose certain games. Without fail, those seasons were not fun for me, even when we were good.

I decided that preseason, I'd be realistic about expectations, then, each week I'd cheer and talk like we'd win THAT game. Why? Because it's the fun way to do things. If you don't believe, then what's the point?

VIA...haven't seen you all summer...good to see you again

1 thing comes to mind
Hope in one hand and shart in the other and see which fills up first.......... JUST SAYING:matrix:

rexvol=closet gator fan, "Florida will have the best recruiting class of all time." "Florida has the best player in the history of football." Just put on some jorts and be done with it.

Even after the debacle on the Hill last Saturday there are still those that think we will "shock the world". Maybe we should rename Neyland and call it "The People's Temple." Seriously, guys we are headed into the most hostile environment in college football to play a game against a team that has won 2 national championships in 4 years. Did I mention that they have the best player in college football at the most important position? I was over at rivals and could not believe how many people still think we have a chance to win. Its almost embarrassing to be honest. Look, I love the Vols and I have witnessed some amazing upsets in my time, the 86 Sugar Bowl comes to mind. No one said we had a chance then, but that crowd was decidedly pro-vols and electric. We wont have that emotional lift this go around. I want us to win, but honestly, we dont have a chance. I want us to show some heart, to play hard to the end and never give up no matter what the score may be. If we can do that, then I think CLK will have done his job in his first visit to the swamp.[/quote
I'm sure we have a small chance to do anything but to say we have no chance at all, (at all) , just shows me you were never a competitive athlete in sports at all.You never, ever take the field with a defeated attititude. IYO, maybe we should just stay at home. As a true fan,I owe it to the team to think they have at least a small chance to tackle Goliath.

We have room. Wing Stop is the food provider. Let me know which you prefer, otherwise it'll be all hot.

I'll be the guy in the hideous checkerboard shorts or candy striped warmup pants. I don't play around.

All the sudden this has turned into a Roy Adams thread?????? Please don't mention the hot tub, BP.

Maybe I'm the only one who does this, I don't know....

But does anyone else feel like (as a fan, not recommended if you're a player) if you go into a game as a huge underdog....with expectations that it will turn into a grand debacle and an enormous train wreck, that it actually twists something in the whole spectrum of fate to make the team do better?

I guess I just feel like if I carry around any optimism it's like a poison. It doesn't mean I'm not holding my breath at every pass or gripping the side of my couch when a player gets out into the open field, it just seems like if I verbalize our chances as remote that those guys seem to move faster, play harder, and it's either never as bad as it seems or something can even surprise you.

I've read your posts and come to a completely opposite conclusion

I know that for most TN fans it so hard to believe that someone can be a fan of a rival school.... One of the things that I really dislike about UT fans

I notice you are from VA so I guess you know what it is like not being a homestate fan.

Gator's reaction to a Vols VICTORY 21-20!!!!

In the grand scheme of things nobody really cares if you're a gator fan living in Tennessee. However, when you come on a Tennessee board to celebrate it you should expect to hear some razzes.

which is why I'm on a forum discussing my school's team from my home state with (usually) like-minded fans.

This is the annual coming of the Wal Mart Gator fan(s), making their presence known on Volnation.

They may have never stepped a foot inside a classroom at UF.
They may have no ties to Gainesville whatsoever.
Hell, they may have never even been to Gainesville before.

But damned if that will deter the WalMart Gator fan.

Ever hear of the: I like Bama and who ever plays TN fan well that is the best way to descibe myself. Watching this board implode Sunday and Monday was priceless. Watchig this week, well, not so much so.

Maybe we should call Hamilton and tell him to save money and just cancel this trip altogether. Afterall, we don't have a chance to win.

And if our guys DO go down there, show some heart, play hard to the end and never give up no matter what the score may be, they'll be doing a hell of a lot better than you did as a fan.

Just sayin'.....:birgits_giggle:

:good!::clapping: Way to bring it Fostermom
