I just cannot find any sympathy for Crompton at this point. Some of you will label me a negavol or a jerk. But I'd love to see him succeed (was so happy after WKU)... but let's be real here.

He has received a free education.

He accepted and is starting in the leadership role of the team. Yet he has not accepted responsibility (as someone else noted ... Tebow did. That's leading.)

He's a 5th year senior.

He gave away the UCLA game with 3 (almost 4) interceptions. Sure the O-Line play wasn't stellar by any means... but he missed open receivers and threw into heavy coverage all day long.

He's a grown man and he is failing. In this instance I think the criticism is warranted.

If he wants the signs to go away, he will play better. Performance does a lot for fans (especially intoxicated college students) -- evidence just see WKU game.

And the Facebook stuff is his own doing. He shouldn't allow random people to be his friends on FB. Welcome to the internet, JC, people are jerks all the time.

Agreed. And some of the quotes from Crompton after games really get to me. Either he's incredibly stupid, or he's a prick. Or both.

So, judging by your logic, he earned all those death threats last year too, huh? Just needed that for the extra little motivation to try and play better... :eek:k:

Very well said. Crompdaddy works hard everyday; he has earned his degree and never gotten into any trouble. He has gone to great lengths to try and prepare himself to be a winning quarterback.
I believe the root of his problems stems for that exact issue. He tries to hard. He would be a case study for a psychologist working with athletes. Clearly he has the physical ability to get the job done. Coming out of high school he had offers from everywhere including Southern Cal. For the last two years everyone has said he looks great during practice. Clearly he looked like a very good, certainly serviceable QB against Western Ky.
When the pressure gets turned up by either the scale of the game or by the defense during the game that is all she wrote for Jonathan. The poor guy just melts. Our coaches must have been aware of this fact. That is why they removed the green jerseys from the qbs. Anything to help him overcome his propensity to come unglued when he is under duress.
During the spring and early summer I had little hope for the guy as well as our entire team. Last year provided a mountain of evidence that Jon could not perform under pressure and when the qb is unable to force the defense to pay a little attention to the pass the whole offense is screwed. When the offense is screwed then the defense is ultimately screwed because they are on the field so long. As the summer moved along time and orange frosted glasses obscured my recollection of last year and I desperately wanted to believe that Jonathan could have a modicum of success this year ala Parker-Wilson last year and in turn we would have a good year like 9-3 or 8-4. My memory came roaring back to me last Saturday. Mistakes that become compounded by more and more mistakes, JC's m.o.
I hate it for the guy, truely hate it for him and his teammates all of whom have worked hard and deserve better.
This year is what it is going to be. Nothing short of the wishbone the coaches or any one else can do. Whether you like to admit it or not Crompton has put his soul into our team for years now so LAY OFF OF HIM. Negative comments and or booing does nobody any good and makes us all look like jack asses.

just because he is the QB of high profile program does not give you the right to say the things people say to him in person, on his personal pages,etc. say what you want in the media, on the radio, or among your group but the guy does not deserve the stuff the pathetic 10%of ur fan base that has no life says about him...seriously worry about your own personal life and let the kid breathe outside of football.

That is beyond asinine.

This all revolves around keeping it in perspective of a game. This is not life or death. No one should fear significant physical injury for under performance... especially in a sport.

Since you took my comments to assume he deserves death threats, are you saying people posting on his Facebook wall, booing, or writing signs about him are equivalent to death threats?

Seriously?

"I'm a man. I'm 40!" comes to mind. Again, he's 22, he's a 5th year senior. He should have thick skin and be able to handle the pressure. He's the quarterback... the position with the most consistent pressure of any person on the team. If he doesn't want the pressure he can not be the QB.

you do realize he received some threats last year right? All the signs, facebook crap, etc are just the things you can see

I am completely aware of that. And I'm not saying that's okay.

What I am saying is just because he received or could receive death threats does not inherently make people putting up signs or Facebook messages asking him to quit wrong.

They are on completely different levels is my point.
