the facebook stuff really, really disappoints me. I can't believe some people would actually take time to bash a kid like this. i am a vol, but dang. do they actually think this crap will turn the kid around? People, really do, genuinely suck.

There are signs all over North Carrick that say, "Week 2 Pac 10 Player of the Week: Jonathan Crompton"

not to take their side but it's the players fault for just giving everyone access. Creepy facebook stalkers are everywhere

Plus, college students are generally idiots

i didn't think about that. there are more than enough media outlets available to hear criticism from for a Major D-1 College QB; no need to expose himself further by having a public facebook account. BUT STILL, give the guy a break. none of us work under that kind of spotlight, and I KNOW-we didn't choose it, but how many of us could handle hoards of people bashing our every mistake?

Why? You honestly think the people that made/hung those signs have ever met him? I don't

No, just from everything I've seen and heard, and what I know about Crompton, I'd have to imagine him being a prick is a strong strong possibility. Kenny Powers style

^^^Wow, sometimes our fanbase just amazes me

It's truly sad that there are so many so-called Vol fans out there. What a bunch of jerk-offs to do anything like that. We need to be lifting our QB up and ANYONE ELSE who struggles on our team. JC may be struggling, but he is still a VOL and OUR QB. It's a damn shame to see how so many people act...it's ridiculous. And one more thing...why is it that ANYONE would boo our Vols?? This disturbs me to the core. We had recruits in Neyland this past Saturday and what if one was really impressed but the ignorant fans BOOING ruined his experience and he passed on us? It could happen, people, so why not think about that the next time you feel like booing our team.

I've never talked to him, but I talked to his neighbor from N.C. last year. His neighbor kept telling me how good of a qb he actually was and the offense we ran last year wasn't like the one he was used to running. He said he felt sorry for Crompton because he was such a good boy. Take if for what its worth.

sorry, it's not worth as much as watching him play football on tv and hearing 4th hand stories from people who actually never spoke more than 3 words to him

Not really surprised by any of that at all - sat infront of some real jack***es at the UCLA game in the student section. Not only did they boo Crompton and constantly cuss him out and bash him - they didn't know anything about football.

The only players on the team they knew were Eric Berry/Crompton/Rico/Jones basically. They also boo'd when Crompton threw the ball away on one play and threw the ball at his Hardesty's feet on purpose because of the pressure (they thought he threw it so badly it went to his feet sadly). I think they also did when he decided NOT to throw into double/triple coverage on a rollout and run for a few yards. These were plays I want to applaud after watching him chuck the ball to the UCLA secondary.

It sucks people like that even bother to come to the games. I'm sure it's those same type of pricks writing on the guy's FB.

And most people simply ASSUME many athletes are pricks because they don't bend over backwards to get to know them. While I was at UT I made some great friends. Several were on the National Championship football team that season(and a few basketball players) but the vast majority of the people on that campus I never knew. By the philosophy of many, each and every person on that campus that didn't take time to know me or didn't act, talk, walk, etc like I felt they should were all pricks too I suppose...it's all a little juvenile if you ask me.

Alright Sally don't get your panties up in a wad. Why don't you do a VN experiment, go meet Crompton, and tell us all what a great kid he is?

Sweet name drop man. When I was at Tech I met Taylor Bennett at a party. He was wearing the purple Tellitubbies costume. He was a douchebag. He was a little juvenile if you ask me.

There wasn't a single name dropped there, thank you very much. Just an example that ALL athletes aren't jerks. None of those guys were lifelong friends--just decent guys--so what's your point? Gee, SALLY, don't get all excited.

You're right, not all athletes are jerks. Just Jon Crompton.
