games last year--including georgia and bama. Had good stats and this many turnovers in all four games: ZERO. Meanwhile, Crompton commits turnovers, makes other mistakes, has no leadership skills, is terrible. And yet Kiffin wants to play crompton. I'm sorry, but his makes no sense...unless Stephens' wrist injury is really bothering him. He was a better qb than crompton last year.

I watched him throw a pick at USCe that got him benched for the rest of the year. Did he not start that game?

Kiffin is smarter than you. I think he knows what he is doing. If Crompton continues to stink it up he will let Nick play. One bad game under Kiffin, not 9-10.

Might want to research your facts man. Stephens threw some picks last year. Two or three against Wyoming, pick 6 vs. South Carolina. I think Stephens will get his shot after this week.

He directly contributed to all of Wyoming's scoring with 2 picks, IIRC...

I was thinking the same thing. Didn't Stephens have a pretty impressive string of passes without an interception at one point last year? I don't remember off the top of my head, but it was an impressive number.

I don't know how in the world Crompton is still starting over Stephens, but I have faith Kiffin knows what he is doing and is playing the guy he feels gives us the best chance to win.

That being said, if Crompton doesn't show any improvement in this week's game, it's time to bench him and give Stephens his shot.

Definitely some revisionist history going on in this thread. Not everybody has forgotten how horrid both QBs were last year.

I trust Kiffin and Chaney with the QB's. You can't make chicken salad!!! Well you get my drift. Thank CPF for the options Kiff is forced to use. In three years,once Donut Holes players have all moved on if a QB plays like this then blame CLK. Doug Matthews said he has two average QBs and he obviously feels Crompton is the one that gives the best chance to win. So hope Crompton gets it together. GO VOLS BEAT THE TURDS!!!!

If Stephens was clearly superior to Crompton, then Nick would have been the starter to begin with.

I think this is what is going to go down. We are gonna play UF a close game, lose. Crompton is going to have mediocre stats -- or hell we could even win the game. It will be enough to keep his job.

BUT, the dumb Crompton will creep back in more than once this year. I think that it will be a roller coaster ride (or funeral procession) for the team, 7-5, win a bowl game to get to 8-5...good bye and good riddance!

He set a record for consecutive attempts without a pick from his first snap.

Unfortunately, there is good and bad in that number... good that he didn't throw a pick, bad that we weren't able to throw the ball downfield(and thus into danger of being picked).

He did have a great throw or two last year though.

its like every other tread is the same, just spell'd differently. we all know crompton has a problem that looks to be more deeper then anyone thought,(maybe not every one) bla bla bla. we also know that if NS was better he would be starting QB... bla bla bla bla... there should be 1 sticky that is strictly over the debate of our current QBs.

sorry if that doesn't make sense or pulls someones pubs the wrong way

Actually, Stephens had a string of 50+ completed passes until his first interception (The "+" is because I'm not taking into account how many passes he completed before his first INT vs USCe). It wasn't until his 6th game he finally threw a pick. That means he went through NIU, Georgia, Mississippi State, and Alabama without throwing an interception (he only attempted two passes vs UAB, so we throw that out). I find that at least somewhat impressive as far as our QB play has been.
