Jonathan Crompton... (merged)

Then, I will. I recorded the game and I've been "watching film"

Anyone want to explain how a QB can go 13/26 for 93 yards... 3 INTS and a fumble, and somehow pull off a win?

Well. what about the playcalling at the goal line at 4th and goal? What would you have done with a QB that's already thrown for 3 INTS? Let him throw another one? No, they did exactly what they needed to do, and came up a yard short. Get the safety, and get another shot with plenty of time. Too bad Crompton blew it.... again

Well, what about the missed tackles on Defense? Granted, some of our young guys missed some tackles, and UCLA had one good drive at the beginning of the game. Our D was good, hell they were damn good. You can't expect a D to stay on the field for as long as they did, DUE TO THE TURNOVERS, and be productive the whole time.

Well, what about the lack of the rushing game? The announcers said it a few times. UCLA stacks the line becuase they know Tennessee is running. Tennessee is obviously running because...? JC can't hit wide open wide outs unless they are wearing blue and yellow.

That I noticed, 4 times JC missed wide open WRs that would have been TDs, 2 in the endzone. Playcalling is a ***** if your QB sucks, so I'm not blaming the coaches here.

But, if JC is so bad, why not pull him? Do you agree with not pulling JC at halftime? Yes. Lane is not Phil, Lane said he didn't like flopping QBs around, let JC get a couple completions and get some rhythm to pull the W. I think the coaches and the fans have figured out JC is just not good enough. He's not a winner, he's an excuse maker, he has been since he's been here.

Nick Stephens MAY be our starter next year, why not go ahead and let him get a taste of it? I hope they do

Just my :twocents:

I completely agree with everything in this post.

If you think Crompton is bad just wait till Stephen plays he sucks! You guys have a short memory! We don't have a good QB but Crompton is the best we have right now like it or not. Also the O line didn't help much either. Good or Bad I love me some Big orange football!

Both made six starts in 2008, with Crompton averaging 111.1 yards passing a game and throwing four touchdowns and five interceptions. Stephens averaged 120 yards passing per game and threw four touchdowns and three interceptions.

did anyone else notice when they showed the team over on the sideline during a timeout and the leaders of the team were trying to get the team pumped up and show some determination it was erric berry and another (didnt see his name or #) in the middle showing leadership and crompton was no where in the picture, shows hes not a leader of the team and doesnt have what it takes to convince the guys in the huddle he can lead them down the field when it matters

JC was there and yelling as well.

Ok so I was at the game yesterday to witness the monstrosity of Jonathan Crompton. Do any of you guys remember when Kiffin plainly said that he would put the best players on the field? Then why in the hell was Stephens not put into the game? I mean, it was the perfect opportunity to give Stephens some playing time, especially since we were playing at home. Now if Stephens has to play in the swamp(one of the toughest places to play)its going to be much harder on him. I know Kiffin said he wanted to stick with one QB and not hurt his confidence, but when you play that bad a change must be made! I would be more concerned with getting the W, than worrying about the confidence of my QB. Now going back to the best players comment. If Crompton is our best QB, then folks we are in for quite a year!!!

Stephens doesn't have to be a world burner. It's called managing the game. It's like Kyle Orton or Rex Grossman when they played for the Bears. You don't have to be Joe Montana. What you can't be is the turnover machine.

That is our problem.

Because Stephens isn't the best player. Yes, our QB stable is that bad.

If I recall correctly, he also said he doesn't like to rotate QBs. He sticks with one guy until he has to change. Unfortunately, he might be at that changing point. I don't see Crompton winning 6 or 7 games this year. I hope he surprises me.

I know Stephens did not look very good last year, but he did have his moments where he showed some potential. Like when he threw that bomb pass to Denarius Moore against Georgia. Im certain that he could've made a difference last night, because he wanted his shot to prove himself.

I agree, we're doomed if he sticks with Crompton this year.

No thanks. 2 coaching staffs selected Crompton over BJ. He barely won the starting job at UTC. Yesterday he threw 2 interceptions and lost to Furman.

Nope.

Coleman was 22/31 for 225 yds, 2 TDS and 1 INT. He played pretty lights out.

Hard to win when you have no running game and give up 200 yards rushing to the other team.

You've got to be nuts to say Crompton is head and shoulders above Coleman.

He said he'd play the best players and he does. Let's face it, if Jonathan Crompton starts, he must be the best quarterback...and that's saying something about how "good" Stephens is.

I agree with everyone that Crompton is terrible and we will definitely not win against Florida, but he should still start. The reason he should start is because no matter who plays in the Swamp it will turn out badly for them. So I think you start Crompton and let him stare down his receivers and throw 7 interceptions. Then, Kiffin should start Stephens against Ohio at home. I think it could really mess with Nick Stephens confidence if Kiffin starts him in the swamp... IMO...

I agree completely!!

He was in there as well, but I just don't think the guys honestly look up to him as a leader, simply because he plays so bad. I saw Chris Walker in there with Berry, he looks like one of our better leaders along with Hardesty. I'll give Crompton one more game against UF just because we are probably going to lose anyway but if he doesn't look decent or at least capable, its time to forget it and just go to Stephens and not look back. Might as well since this is Kiffins first year and he has a pass this year anyway. Stephens will have to play next year anyway and JC will be gone. But the UF game is huge, just from a morale standpoint this year. If JC can just manage the game he may have a serviceable year, if not, hes a lost cause and its time to look ahead, move on and try to develop what we can for next year.

He can't play under pressure. I'm talkin when the lights are on, its a big game, and we need a good performance. He does not have it mentally. We've heard how good he is in practice the last 4-5 years, yet see him sputter in games. He cannot perform under pressure, he cannot hold it together when one thing goes wrong, and he cannot get his confidence back. You heard what Holle Rowe reported after his 2nd pick. He was done. Yeah he tried to rally the troops, but you can tell in his eyes he was done. I'm not the coach, nor should I be, but I will say this. Crompton looked scared yesterday. He looked like "Oh crap, its happening again, I'm gonna fall flat on my face" etc. He just cannot handle the pressure of being a QB at a big-time school.

He is not an SEC player.Facts are facts,he should have went to the ACC or BIG 12 where the defenses aren't as stout and people don't care as much about football.I'll support him as long as he is our guy,but I'll probably be supporting a losing team if he is our guy.

I love Tennessee with a passion, but I could see us only winning 3 games this season with that kinda play cAlling
