Jonathan Crompton... (merged)

I can truly not think of a worse UT QB in my whole 34 years of being a UT Fan. We are 1 Good QB away from being a good team, not great but good. He seemed to get worse as the game progressed and i felt like i was watching a game from 2008. I spent alot of money coming to the game today and i truly feel cheated from the QB product being put on the field. Please put Stephens in, he may not be better but i can not see him being worse. How can a 1,000,000 seated stadium with almost unlimited resources and an enormous fan base not have even a medicore QB in its stable. This is the regular Crompton , last week was the fluke. I hate it but the guy has to go IMO. Just atrocious. the DB's had the ball thrown right to them while our wide outs were overlooked, under/other thrown, or stared down where they didnt have a chance. Rememeber , Florida's defense is faster and deepeer than UCLA's. Switch to Stephens now. Dont wait till after Florida , how asinine, if your gonna do that and not hurt Stephens confidence than save the airfare and forfeit the win. That is all i have to say about that.

also doesn't change these words from UCLA defensive back Rahim Moore, who picked off two of Crompton's passes: "On film, (Crompton) would look guys off. He didn't look anybody off today. Where he was looking was where he was throwing."................We cant win a game with him at QB.

What film was he referring to I wonder? I didn't realize that JC ever had time to look off a secondary.

Everyone here knows they liked Crompton after the first play. And then the entire First Drive. No matter what you say on here, you really did believe in him, there is no denying that. So he screwed up? Big deal. He is the best we have, so instead of *****ing and moaning lets rally behind our TEAM and do our best to help them win by supporting them at Games.

Jonathan Crompton should be benched for the rest of the year. No matter what else happens, I would rather lose with Lamaison than have that guy out there breaking my heart.

Just calm down, drastic decisions will lead to a worse year then leaving Crompton in.

Crapton makes Joey Mathews look like Manning and Kiffer look like Britney F'n Spears. I feel sorry for all the people buying tickets...the best thing you all could do for big orange is just don't buy anymore tickets or go to anymore games this year...then your voices will be heard. Keister Kiffer will be gone and so will his "turtle on his f'n back" queefback crompton. Put Laimason in there please... surely he is not as embarrassing. I feel a worse season coming on than last year with the all thumbs offense. :bad::bad::bad::bad::bad::bad::bad::bad::bad::bad:

Why don't YOU go away. Find some other team to "root" for.

Crompton is what he is...and that's a good high school qb. He has no ability to read a defense and that showed last night, as it did any other time he got a few snaps in a game. Against Western KY, he appeared fine b/c they play like a high school team.

It's my feeling that he may be replaced next week for the UF game. So Nick goes 14 for 25 in a game instead of 20 for 25 like JC? If he does this without throwing 4 picks and effectively giving four scores to UF then he's the guy.

Nobody hates to see JC ay QB more than I but I think let's let JC play FLA and let him throw his 8int's and his 100% comp. % to the ground and then start NS the next game. That way it will buid NS confidance. If NS plays against FLA then his confidance will be devastated. JMHO!

Just put Stephens in the game in the second half, after Meyers calls off the dogs. Oh wait, let me rethink that.

I am pulling for Crompton to start and show some better decision making and connecting on short passes out of the backfield and to the tight ends. Hopefully we can get Nukeese or Gerald back there on a few plays to crank out 7-8 yards a touch.

I'm a Vol fan hoping to see Crompton play well. I won't pile on, but if he doesn't perform in the first quarter against UF, I hope to see Stephens.

My very first post on VN got deleted for attacking Crompton last night, so let me try this again. After leaving the game yesterday, the hatred I had for our QB could not have been any bigger. I was a victim of a complete broken heart.

However, after coming home and watching the replay of the game last night I had a slight change of heart. While yes, I still cannot possibly understand how Crompton was ever considered a highly touted prospect or that he is a better choice than Stephens, UCLA's defense lived in our backfield. Crompton was consistently having to scramble immediately after taking his 3 or 5 step drop and not many QB's would look good in that situation. Our O-Line play was just as deplorable as was JC's play. For Christ's sake, when we had 4th and goal to take the lead, it was their backup tackles who led the charge allowing their LB's to step up and plug all the holes.

Anyways, before people attack me, I agree completely that Crompton needs to be benched immediately and should never see the playing field at UT again. As many have already stated, he time and time again stared down recievers, did not pick up the defensive schemes, and simply threw to the wrong color jerseys. However, no QB will look golden when they have no pass blocking.

P.S. - Our recievers looked sloppy, for the most part did not run clean routes, and were unable to create spacing. Also, not sure who was to blame between Crompton and G. Jones for the two busted plays on the final drive. To be honest on 4th down it looked like GJ was supposed to stop at 10 yards since we needed 9 for the first and not a 25 yard flag route. But once again, it could very well have just been Crompton having yet another Crompton moment.

I can't go through another game with Cromptom at the helm, bench him now! He was just throwing the ball to where he thought the recievers were, he wasn't even looking at the defense!

according to this poster, and about a thousand other's,there's not gonna be anybody left to watch or support the VOL'S the rest of the year.WHAT I SAY IS GOOD,go away you fair weather fans and let us 'REAL' VOL fans support our team.:dance2::clapping:

I can truly not think of a worse UT QB in my whole 34 years of being a UT Fan.

In my time watching the Vols since the early 90's, I am struggling to even think of a quarterback in all the SEC that played as poorly as Crompton has played since the beginning of last season. One thing goes wrong and he just comes off the rails. Other than his pass to Hancock in the 4th quarter, I think every time he threw the ball across the line of scrimmage in after that was either intercepted, skipped 5 yards short of his receiver, or sailed over their head. If anyone can think of an SEC quarterback that played this bad, and continued to see the field, please throw some names out there, because I at a complete loss.

Once again the Volnation faithful have found fault with the Jonathan Crompton product. Jon, in your own words can you describe your 1st thought in response to the Volnation hordes that criticize your performance?

You got some things wrong here...

Even though it was a lesser opponent, there were quite a few drastic changes in Crompton.

Lesser opponent? Strike one.

- He was having a blast out there and looked in control of the team

In control of the team and in control of the game are two different things.

- on the fumbled snap he didnt even break stride by snatching it up and making a great throw to the sideline...last year he either falls out after freaking out or trips over the ball

The fumbled snap I SAW in the first half was a turnover. You give JC too much credit.

-accuracy....kid was on the money with some beautiful throws especially in the end zone

JC was 13/26, 96 yards and 3 INT. Thats accurate? Wow.. your bar is low.

- he knew where everyone was going to be at...the pump fakes to make safety go where he wants them and then hitting Hancock or Teague. He was throwing a ton of balls before the WR made their last cut which made them hard to defend

Statistically, Prince (freshman) had better stats. 1 TD, NO INTs. Leave your orange colored glasses on... it works for you.

I get so sick of people like you who act so self righteous about other fans being upset. Who are YOU to call other fans "fair weather"? Fair weather fans wouldn't take the time to come here and complain and frankly, there hasn't been enough 'fair weather' at UT for a long time.

Posts like this are probably why you are not a guru. This thread was started last week after the WKU win. Way to pay attention.

I'm sorry but that is lame. The majority of Volnation knows that Crompton is done, so stick a fork in him and let's move on.

has there been a coaching change made that wasn't announced.i didn't know that VOL NATION had been named HC of the ten.vol's.:worship::dunno:

Really?! Grow up. It's just a game.

This really sucks.....

I had "almost" bought into the Crompton talk. He made some nice throws in the last game. But the truth is the kid isn't a D1 QB. Yea, he has the tools. Nice size, good arm, can make all the throws. The problem is when the real games start. He can not handle it upstairs. He just isn't a playmaker but worse than that he makes so many mistakes he costs you games. And you can't have that at any level much less the SEC.

No the problem is what do you do? Change to Stephens? Well, I think you would have a better chance to win games with him. But I don't think you can throw him in against FL right off the bat. He needs some time to build his confiedence. If we throw him in there. This season will turn out worse than last.

IMO you have to let Crompton play against FL. Because I don't care who we have at QB we aren't going to beat the Gators in the swamp with this bunch. Go take your ass whipping with Crompton and then play Stephens against Ohio. Which would be a much better game to break in a new QB.

But there is no reason for Crompton to play after FL. We have to start to try and build for next year. Because he isn't going to lead this team anywhere. He has proven it time and again.
