Iran

Trump’s dilemma is how to convince his MAGA sheep that he’s not giving Iran 14 TIMES the amount that Obama gave Iran.

I expect the solution wil entail a conditional, phased, third-country escrow arrangement where Trump will claim that he secured something tangible from Iran rather than simply returning (their!) frozen assets.

End result: Trump still actually gives Iran 14x the amount Obama did.

Long article on the blockade ...

From the article:

Iran’s crude oil exports fell to their lowest level in at least six years in May, as a United States naval blockade squeezes Tehran’s most important source of income amid a fragile ceasefire between the two nations.

Oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz account for about 80 percent of total Iranian exports. The latest shipping data suggests the blockade has sharply reduced the amount of crude Iran can sell abroad, particularly to China, its largest customer.

According to data from trade intelligence firm Kpler, Iranian crude oil and condensate exports fell from close to 2 million barrels per day (bpd) to below 300,000bpd in May.

That's why no deal has been reached. Best Trump can do is back to the status quo and send Iran billions. At this point, Trump is losing. Biggly.

Also, this just in:

Iran: Fighting to survive against overwhelming military force;

US: Fighting a war of choice against asymmetric warfare;

If Trump thinks he can simply “outlast” Iranian will to resist us, he’s wrong. We won tactical battles for years in a similar situation in Vietnamese, but ultimately lost the war strategically.

Americans are fickle and impatient. Trump’s time is running out before Iran’s.

Quick question. In both cases was/is it not Iran's money to begin with?

As far i know, yes. But that's not how MAGA viewed it when Obama released funds to Iran. I mean, to support that now MAGA world would have to do a complete 180, just to mindlessly support Trump, as though he was a cult leader.

This. He knows he is f##ked and GOP is f##ked at midterms because of what he is going to have to do. Its sort of why he says what he says below, "They are strong, etc, etc, blah blah". Try and convince his lunatic base to get on board, which they will..

Looks like its back on
Trump realized he achieved ZERO. If anything, we are now in a weaker position given Iran will control Hormuz snd levy tolls.

Ramping up attacks during a war in light of failure is the classic Presidential blunder of quite a few Presidents. It’s right up there with the most famous of which is 'never get involved in a land war in Asia,' but only slightly less well-known than the ‘never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!’
