I'm totally fine with them just keeping the dang playoff at 12, but since they keep messing with it, the solution would be to just move to 24.

Just do what the FCS does. Conference champions get automatic berths and you fill in the rest with the 14 at large spots based on rankings.

I know everyone wants to exclude the G6, but since they exist within the FBS and every other playoff system ever rewards champions, then give each conference a bid.

Then you seed them accordingly. I know everyone just loathes non power teams, but hey, your 9-3 or 8-4 SEC team may get to host a 1st round playoff game in this event.

For us, going 9-3 or 8-4 may be the difference in hosting a playoff game or having to play on the road.

If one is worried about it watered down....you'd still have the top 18 power conference teams. Plenty of good matchups. The G5's would also wouldn't be playing the top seeds in the 1st round either, so results would be less lopsided and yes an upset would happen. It's not impossible yall lol.

One of the reasons I have seen for not expanding it is that ESPN is against it. They seem to think the cost of production (travel, set up, etc.) will outweigh additional revenue. I know nothing about the financial side of things from the network perspective, but I have always thought a 16-team playoff is the sweet spot.

That is interesting, didn't know that history. Completely agree, I loved the Caymans, can't wait to go back. Despised all 3 trips to Jamaica, will never ever go back.

Also, EVERY shot is better than an Angel "Mebound" Reese shot. Butch Jones would have signed her just for the bricks and 5 star attitude.

I do believe however that a 24 team playoff will expose the ranking bias because we will see 8-4 teams with tougher schedules upset 11-1 and 10-2 teams ranked above them. Remember the 24 team proposal, the top 8 teams get byes so the 9-12 ranked teams who were previously getting charity rankings for being 11-1,10-2 from smaller conferences will now have to play 9-3, 8-4 SEC type teams.

The 24 will expose conferences and bad ranking system if nothing else.
