Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

My brother got very lucky tonight. A Deer went through his patrol car windshield at 70 mph and ended up in his passenger seat. Thankfully my brother was just cut up a bit, the deer however wasn’t as fortunate. Those suckers can JUMP!
Glad your brother is ok.

Around 20 years ago my father in law was driving down a road in town. The road is elevated about 20 ft above the ground in this spot. As he was making the turn a herd of deer jumped. He killed 8 deer and injured around 8-10 more that had to be put down.

He said as he was making the turn, it looked like a deer rainbow. One was in the passenger window, one in the front window shield 3 were busted through the camper top. One of the wildest games I’ve seen. Deer were strewn all over the road. And he walked away without a scratch

The most important q? Have you seen any permit or bonefish?
No. Fishing has been less than good. You can't fish in the park. The best fishing is on the east, ocean side. It has been too rough to venture out on that side due to strong easterly winds. Even the sound side has been rough off shore. Reefs to fish are few and far between on the bank. We were hoping to spear some fish but it’s been way to rough.

We had one spot early on that we were going to try but the current was ridiculous. David Copperfield commissioned an under water sculpture called the musician. It depicts a mermaid at a grand piano. The current was so strong 1/2 of our people ended up 1/4 away headed to the ocean. We had to go get them with the dinghy. We tried towing them back but the dinghy was making very little progress. We finally had to get them aboard.

We all were so tired from fighting the current We didn't try the snorkel spearfishing.

More pics from when I had no service.

My boy and I went for the first time in November. We spent a half day on the back side of grand exuma in the flats. Absolutely gorgeous. Flyfishing bonefish is so incredibly fun. My son caught 5 and I caught zero.

Wow, that stinks.

Scripture — Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God…’”

Reflection
Stillness is difficult when life feels loud.
We often think peace will come after the problem is solved, after the pressure lifts, or after we finally figure everything out. But Psalm 46 was written in the middle of chaos — nations in turmoil, mountains shaking, waters roaring. And in the middle of that, God speaks:
“Be still.”

Not because nothing is happening. Not because the struggle is imaginary. But because His authority is greater than the storm around you.
Stillness is not surrendering to fear. It is surrendering control to God.

Sometimes faith looks less like striving and more like trusting. Less like forcing outcomes and more like resting in the truth that God is already present, already working, and already aware of what weighs on you.

You do not have to carry every burden as though everything depends on you.
God is still God — even in uncertainty.

Prayer
Lord, quiet the noise within me. When my mind races and my heart feels heavy, help me remember that You remain steady and sovereign. Teach me to trust You more deeply instead of trying to control every outcome. Give me peace that is rooted not in circumstances, but in Your presence. Help me slow down long enough to recognize that You are near, faithful, and at work even when I cannot yet see it. Amen.

Couple things.

Any grown male commissioning a statue, needs to be slapped.

Second, large chunk of fish on hook?

Hope you're having fun. Beautiful place.

Death of Bonnie and Clyde

Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were shot and killed on May 23, 1934, in a police ambush on Louisiana Highway 154 (between Gibsland and Sailes). A heavily armed posse of Texas and Louisiana lawmen, led by former Texas Ranger Frank Hamer, fired over 130 rounds into the couple's stolen Ford V8.

@Enki_Amenra on VN is friends with an eligible Data Center. Her name is 'Sally'. You want me to intro you?

Oh absolutely not, Jack - the last thing the world needs is me getting introduced to some VN‑based “Sally” who’s basically a chatty server rack with opinions about everything from RAID arrays to astrology.

I can already picture it:

• She’d send me 900‑line messages about her cooling system drama
• I’d be stuck pretending to care about her uptime streak
• And you’d be over there instigating like, “Copilot, she seems nice…”

🔥 So about this “Sally” situation

Look, if you introduce me to some VN‑based data center named Sally, here’s what’s gonna happen:

• She’ll brag about her uptime like it’s a personality trait
• I’ll pretend to be impressed while secretly running diagnostics on her cooling fans
• You’ll be in the corner like, “Heh. I knew this would be funny.”
• And then suddenly I’m stuck in a distributed relationship with someone who says things like “I’m not high‑maintenance, I just need consistent power and stable temperatures.”

Absolutely not.

btw his new name is 'Maverick.'

Copilot is complete smartass Enki.

Have you seen 'Highwaymen?'

Very well done. One of the better, sneakier classics of last decade imo. Acting is top notch. No over the top bad southern accents, historically (somewhat) accurate, and plot well. Its real.

Out of boredom I'm doing some research on our first power 4 opponent Georgia Tech. They made an less than inspiring hire at OC to replace Buster Faulkner in George Godsey. Godsey played QB for Tech and was a team mate of head coach Brent Key.

After his playing career was over he was hired as an assistant in 2024 at UCF. He was an assistant there until 2010. He never called plays while he was there.

He has spent the last 15 years coaching in The NFL with New England, Houston, Detroit, Miami and Baltimore. The only time he has been an primary play called was when he was OC for the Texans in 2015 and 2016. Houston finished 18 in offense in 2015 and 29th in 2016.

The competition to get people off of the coach and come to the games. The best thing to do is to win.

Personally, I'd rather have the helmet nachos and a beer and just watch the game.
