Official visit season kicks off for the Tennessee Volunteers Football program this weekend as they will bring in several visitors over the weekend. But official visitors will not be the only recruits on campus this weekend as Tennessee will also host 865Live with unofficial visitors expected on campus.
Volquest has the latest on a number of top targets expected to be in town.
Elite offensive targets headline OV weekend for Tennessee Football
Tennessee Football will get two long-time priority targets back to campus on the offensive side of the football this weekend for official visits in wide receiver
Eric McFarland and offensive tackle
Caden Moss. Getting Moss back to campus is a big step for the Vols after they were left out of his top schools and initial list of official visits.
Tennessee checked on Moss during the spring contact period and have remained consistent in their pursuit, which has allowed them the opportunity to work back into this recruitment.
For McFarland, the Vols are involved in a heavyweight battle with a number of programs, including Georgia and Texas A&M, among others. The five-star wide receiver visited Tennessee in the spring, and he left impressed. Now, he will get a deeper look at the Vols this weekend.
Tennessee wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope has been crucial in the Vols pursuit of the standout prospect.
“I just love it how he is one hundred percent transparent with you,” McFarland previously told Volquest of Pope. “Him just keeping it real with how I can fit into the offense with just me as person. I definitely see the way he is on his receivers consistently. Not petty, and I like that. I just like how he is genuinely there for his receivers off the field. He really wants to make them a better man.”
Other official visitors on campus
Tennessee Football defensive back commitment
Brandon “Slim” Leavell will be back on campus just days after choosing the Vols over Clemson and Florida. He will have the opportunity peer recruit for the Vols.
Fellow defensive back
Darrius White will be back on campus this weekend as well. He has a number of schools firmly in the mix in his recruitment, including the Vols, Alabama and Cincinnati.
Front line defenders
Marvin Nguetsop and
Marquis Evans have both been high on Tennessee ahead of official visits and both are set to get back into town this weekend. Both have told Volquest in recent days that they are looking forward to learning more about the program.
Tennessee Football will welcome highly ranked unofficial visitors
Tennessee will also host unofficial visitors across various classes for 865 Live this weekend. Notably, the Vols are expecting local four-star tight end
Malik Howard back on campus for the event. Tennessee continues to swing heavily in this recruitment, and the Vols are battling Notre Dame as the primary competitor here heading into the summer.
Another in-state standout who will be back on campus this weekend is
Antwan Jackson. Tennessee has done a nice job in the recruitment of the raw, but powerful EDGE prospect, while a number of other programs are also involved.
2027 linebacker
Tre Geathers has been a long-time target for the Vols, and they are getting him back to campus this weekend for a big unofficial visit. South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and others are involved in this recruitment.
On the 2028 front, Tennessee will get two big time visitors to campus, including the top-ranked defensive lineman in
Kellan Hall and top-ranked running back in
Kevin Hartsfield.
