WNBA discussion thread?

What a comeback. Would have pulled off the upset if she had had any help whatsoever. Shot 2 - 10 first half, 8 - 12 second half. , Diggins went out after being literally closed fist punched in the face by Copper, so RJ was on her own And being guarded by the ultimate bully, Thomas. Reminiscent of some of her best LV performances. Also had six rebounds and three blocks.

Rickea is averaging 35 mins per game, not sure how long that can keep up.

The sky can be really good, but have to have more help from Cardoso. Also need Azura back ASAP.

That is a 2nd half for sure!! She and Clark had parallel universe type games. I only know the game through the clip you posted but Rickea looks so fluid and more comfortable making moves with the ball. If she can keep knocking down 3s at a clip to keep defensive honest, she is going to have monster season.

I am looking forward to the Sky v. Wings game on Wednesday.

The Mystics are intriguing team. Their ceiling seems very high with Kikl, Austin, and Citron as a their big 3 and Amore as a solid PG running the show.

If Boston is out for any extended period, the Fever are going to struggle.

PS, on sports center last night, they led their wnba coverage with Wilson’s 45 and not Clark going for 32 with 7 3’s.

I think Stepf White is in a no-win situation. These Fever fans, especially the podcasters are brutal on her. Clark doesn't play enough, Clark is playing off the ball, the coach is trying to put her into a balanced offense. Unless they win, and CC gets plus 20 and makes 4 or5 threes they are not happy. To them they are not the Indiana Fever, but the CC Fever. They get upset if they feel another player on the team is getting more attention than her. They should be hit on the side of their head and realize that the team last year played better when she was out, indication that the team concept was working. CC trying to dominate is not a sign of a good team, only a team that has to change the way they play just to please her. Getting out of hand, but the coach is always the problem, so I imagine White won't be back next year if she doesn't let CC run and maybe ruin the show.

You mean like this?

For many CC and Angel fans, it was never about basketball or their teams at all. Simply about stan and perceived social agenda culture.
No coach or team is going to come out ahead with those folks. If that's mainly what the rise in popularity and money In the W is about it will never sustain.

It's not exactly that she does it, most of them do. It's just that IMO she does it in the most geeky awkward goofy ridiculous way possible. Just for equal time, I also find Angels celebrations comically over the top and with the same physical awkwardness her game has. For the two best trash talkers, both need serious work on that part of their game.

Preseason's Top two teams face off today, Vegas in Atlanta. Unfortunately Atlanta will be without R Howard who is in concussion protocol.

Probably the best match up will be the sky at Minnesota Tonight at 7. Diggins is listed as questionable due to being punched, without consequence apparently, by copper in the last game. Would be hard for Sky to win without her unless Cloud really steps up. Don't want to see RJ have to carry the whole team offensively again. Her game works best when she doesn't force. I really need Cardoso to show me something.

Rae and the Sparks play the Tempo again in LAtonight. With Atkins out , interesting to see if LA continues to start Wheeler and move Plum off ball , or rewards Brink instead . Jordy and a tragically shorthanded Storm will give the Fever a chance for a get right game this afternoon.

White lost that game going to subs early when the starters were steam rolling them and not putting them back in. Gave the mystics confidence enough to play well the rest of the game. Coaching malpractice.

A certain segment of CC fans is constantly furious at the coach, the refs, the opposing players even if several of those things have changed in her 3 seasons. Her not being the best player in the league has to be someone else's fault

Wow, that sounds familiar. Subbing on a preset pattern rather than as the game permits? Not allowing players with a hot hand to stay in rhythm? Where have I heard that before?

To be fair, subbing is really hard in a league with 44 games in three months. Especially with a player who has been injury prone.

Exact same can be said of a segment of angel fans. Because it was never really about the basketball.

Really, I think she simply IS awkward and goofy and geeky, but laced with arrogance. Her celebration style kinda fits.

For that reason, it is also good to remember that social media and the real world don't always correlate. There is a lot of "engagement farming" done with Clark and Reese, which seeks to amplify the sense of controversy around them for clicks and shares. I find it hard to believe that there is an actual widespread controversy over White's post-game comments. If the 80-20 rule applies here (and it seems to hold for just about everything), it is a small segment of Clark fans (and algorithmic bots) that are generating all the noise.

Same ole sickening story. Non contact, you could see the leg bend in. Hyperextension would be the best case scenario. And she was off to such a good start and was so happy at Chicago...

Chicago is incredibly resilient. They're already without Diggins this game, Cloud got two fouls in the first 30 seconds of the game, RJ went down, but theyre ahead by two at halftime. Sheldon and Jaquez play so **** hard Also coulibaly and Elizabeth Williams.

Unbelievable what the Sky just pulled off. Tosh Cloud showed incredible leadership and really stepped it up. Sheldon, Jaquez.all of them just incredible resilience. It's definitely not going to be the same, but they're going to be a fun team to pull for this year. Tyler Marsh is doing a fantastic job.

What a dismal night. We're probably at a low point for Lady Vols in the W right now.

Neither Rae nor Jordy can get can any positive traction, both on awful teams.

Rae stayed in foul trouble the whole game, played about 18 minutes and only had two points. It was another epic foulfest., The intent to tighten is good, but the over correction is real. The Sparks did what the Sparks do, scored almost 100 but gave up almost 110. Brittany Sykes almost put 40 points on them. Lynn Roberts has not the first clue and apparently not the first shred of ambition toward any defense whatsoever. And the 'win now' Sparks are 1-3.

Meanwhile Jordan Horston is also struggling to make an impact. Played just under 15 minutes tonight, had two points a couple of rebounds did have three assists. But so far just not able to get much going.

I guess Izzy Harrison is still on the Toronto roster, but she was not listed tonight and did not play.

Barker still in concussion protocol. Been there for a while.

Tough times y'all.
