Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

So.the concepts of sports psychology that athletes can be distracted equates to weak mindedness? That would be news to a lot of successful coaches at every level.

Just because you take the L doesn't mean you ignore the corruption that accompanied it. Using your logic we'd still be paying taxes to the crown.

And for your gratification general Cornwalis, Gilbert and Anderson were tossed in the first game.

The umps weren't mean just corrupt butt-puppets for the baseball elite who wanted that team taken down because they weren't playing the game the way they wanted.

Tossed in first game.

What was score when tossed? What was final score?

What happened in game 2?

Does the distraction skip a game like some hereditary traits skip a generation?

8-2 Notre Dame bottom of 5th inning. Tennessee won game two 12-4 ...

Ohhh I know 😁

And Vols battled back to lose 8-6.

Dominated game 2.

Got shut down game 3 due to a heroic pitching performance out the pen.

It happens. And not bc Gilbert was tossed or the NCAA didn’t like Vols.

That series loss to ND has zero to do with NCAA not like Vols antics.

ND jumped all over Vol pitching game 1.

Vols got shut down with the season on the line in game 3. Which happens in baseball. Just unfortunately how it played out that year.
They were badly squeezing our pitchers from get go in that game 1 imo...that is why Frank got kicked, he finally freaking lost it. You know as well as I do that when a ump decides to give a pitching staff a tiny strike zone, that any good offensive baseball team is going to destroy them....imo that is what happened. The corrupt jackasses also kicked our heart and soul of the team spark plug out of the game.

Most people just see a box score and go...oh Tennessee’s pitching staff sucked today...I don't. I know sometimes it is legit bad pitching, but sometimes it is a jackass ump squeezing a staff to death....you know that. I also think they gave Notre Dame staff a big strike zone..especially in game 3.

MLB umps did the same thing to Greg Maddux every freaking year in the postseason...a Hall of Fame pitcher that absolutely relied on control, one of the best control "pitchers" ever, a guy who would literally go several games in season without walking anybody, would suddenly magically walk 5-6 batters in 5 innings and get shelled...because he relied on pinpoint control and wasn't able to overpower anybody...riii-ggghhtt 🤔....and nobody ever called those piece of crap scum out on it. Somebody made retirement money off of that corrupt crap.

The NCAA wanted to send a message to Tony and the players, I think it was received loud and clear....the hijinks got toned down a lot in the seasons after.

I also agree..sometimes that's just baseball...but that game one especially never sat well with me. Maybe I am wrong about it, I will give you that...but I've always felt like the umps made that happen...it just felt off.

Aint no fish in the Colorado I hear. Hit the Gunnison.
I followed the Lake Fork of the Gunnison all the way from Lake City to Blue Mesa back in 2020...OMG that was a beautiful drive. There were dozens of fly fishermen down on the river. I knew it must be a big time trout fishery to be that busy...it was crazy.

If you honestly believe the impact of the NCAA's behavior is just measured by the score of game 2, then this is pointless.

I don't think you are that stupid. I think you just like to debate. But regardless, it doesn't change the fact that the NCAA is a paragon of corruption and hypocrisy.

I watched the series and disagree. Game 1 ND hit Vols in the mouth early.

1st inning started:

- 1B on 0-0 count
- stolen base
- 2-run jack on 1-2 pitch
- K
- K
- fly out on 2-2 pitch

2nd:

- groundout on 1-1 pitch
- bomb on 0-2 pitch
- groundout 1-2 pitch
- groundout 2-2 pitch

3rd:

- groundout on 1-2 pitch
- 1B on 1-2 pitch
- caught stealing
- 1B on 0-2 pitch
- 2-run jack on 1-1 pitch
- 1B on 1-1 pitch
- K on 0-2 pitch

4th:

- groundout 1-1 pitch
- 1B on 1-2 pitch
- 1B 0-0 pitch
- groundout on 2-2
- 3-run jack 0-1 pitch

And that was it for the 8 runs ND scored. They jumped all over Vol pitching bc especially Tidwell was bad with 2-strike pitches. He didn’t walk a batter. Rarely fell behind in counts.

For the game Vols K’d 11 and BB’d 4 (3 of these from Joyce (who gave up 0 runs and he also threw 2 wild pitches).

Im at the point of the offseason where i watch old ball games. Watched rhe MCB from this past year and all I have to say about our OL is yikes…
