Very nice to see Chris, who turned heads in the runup to the NFL draft, defending the system that made him into a 3rd round pick by the Panthers. I think a lot of prospective receivers are seeing the success he had here and are going to want to play with a QB like Faizon who gets the ball down the field.

I don’t buy into the “coming from Tennessee’s offense means you won’t succeed in the NFL” narrative. If you have the talent to be play professionally, NFL coaches will get production out of you. I would tend to believe the opposite . . . that Heupel has gotten some receivers drafted higher that they probably should have by getting them to out produce their talent in college.

This is the real answer. Regardless I’d like to see some produce to help recruiting for future incoming WRs. But this is a school that if you’re a fringe 3* and 4* you can greatly increase your likelihood of being NFL by playing here.

I think some people foolishly thought Hyatt was going to excel in the NFL. Because he won the Biletnikoff award, people thought that would automatically make him great in the NFL. He had a phenomenal season of production, but much of it was catching balls while wide open. He was definitely a product of the system. That certainly doesn't mean the system is flawed. We just haven't had that stud who can excel in the league yet. Brazzell may be that guy or at least a guy who is productive. Tillman has done very well when he's been healthy and he was in this system for 2 full years

But since you've brought that up, most of the players drafted from Spurrier's teams were on the defense.

I can’t think of a more sterling endorsement of Heupel’s system. What coach wouldn’t want their QB throwing to wide open receivers?

I agree with you and never bought that narrative either, but the fact is that the narrative existed in and has been used with regard to the WR's who have come out of this system, and certainly by other programs in recruiting WR's. T

That was the point of posting the article, that Brazzell is specifically refuting the stupid narrative.
