Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Yeah, the whole point, apparently, is to auction off rooms with a view down into the stadium.

So does the view just beyond this (as you say), still have the view I described? or is it occluded?
Nah, today's yuppies want rooftop restaurant bar and $50 pizza. Make it short and wide👀

How often to people look at the field anyway? They watch on TV, even if at the game. Stupid,

Scripture — Gospel of Matthew 28:19–20 (NIV)

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Reflection
These are among the final recorded words of Jesus before His ascension—often called the Great Commission. He doesn’t tell His followers merely to believe privately, stay comfortable, or protect what they’ve learned. He sends them.
“Go…”

Faith was never meant to be stationary.
Sometimes “go” means crossing oceans.
Sometimes it means walking across your office.
Sometimes it means sitting at your own kitchen table and leading your family with patience, truth, and consistency.

Notice Jesus doesn’t say, “Go when you feel fully ready.”
He says go… and as you go, make disciples.
That means faith matures not only in learning—but in living, sharing, serving, and teaching others what Christ has done in you.

And then comes the promise:
“Surely I am with you always…”
The mission is big—but you were never asked to carry it alone.
Whether you’re leading at work, guiding your family, mentoring someone younger, or simply trying to live faithfully in ordinary moments, Christ’s presence goes with you.
Purpose without presence can feel crushing.
But calling with Christ becomes courage.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for not calling me only to believe—but to follow, to serve, and to help others know You. Show me where “go” looks like in my life right now—at home, at work, in conversations, and in quiet acts of obedience. Help me live a faith that is active, humble, and real. And when I feel unqualified or uncertain, remind me that Your presence goes with me. Let my life point others toward You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I don’t care how tall or big the hotel is if it makes enough money to fund championship football teams.
Meh. Daniel is gonna dirty up the Knoxville skyline. I think they should build it, they just need a new spot. They should build it on the river with a dock and boat access if he had any sense at all.

Just extend the press boxes to close in the north end zone and put hotel suites in it. Skyline saved, dollars created, and stadium expanded.

There’s no room over there. Thing is, you’ve got the river that’s owned by the Corps of Engineers, Neyland Drive that’s owned by TDOT (and is a national highway), and then G10, that’s owned by the university.

I mean, yeah it blocks some of the view to and from the stadium. It’s not like there’s anything else architecturally to look at over there tho. From the street side of things, it’s a huge improvement. Neyland is kinda meh from that angle anyway.

They could build on that spot where they had a bar at for a while. Isnt there some room on the north side of Neyland?

Not sure that view is meh. It's a pretty iconic viewing angle of the stadium and Knoxville skyline.

@Orangeredblooded, I'm making hot sauce from a green Scotch bonnet. (Singular, because one pepper does the trick in a small batch.) 🔥🌶️

My question: Hot sauce usually includes vinegar. Is that a taste choice or is the vinegar required as a preservative if going to be kept long? Or both? I think I'll use my very small batch quickly, so I'm not worried about a preservative. I just added some fruit like I did with the haberno about a year ago. I'm going to add a little olive oil to the food separately at the time I use sauce, so the oil better retains its pungency.

Vinegar is for both flavor and preservative. That's why hot suace has a long shelf life. I think it also balances the fire with some sour so it's not just a one note fire flavor from the pepper.

Thanks, jave! I used a good bit of lemon. Maybe that would accomplish the same thing? I made a tiny batch: about an inch and a half in one of those little one-serving smoothie-makers. It won't be here long enough to go bad. But I'm thinking, after you said that, that a few drops of balsamic might be a good flavor addition. I suppose apple-cider vinegar is the standard in hot sauce.

Other than lemon and zest (I'm on a big lemon kick): a peeled small mandarin, a touch of tart cherry juice, and a few grapes. Olive oil will be added at time of serving to maximize its pungency. I'm basically just f---ing around.

Do you make hot sauce?

I've been loving throwing vinegar on stuff lately. Marinades especially.

Well now I think I'm gonna have to try my hand at making hot sauce...and perhaps mole.

Anyone else want to punch Tim Brando after this drivel?

SEC constantly taking strays from him, but you definitely don't see the same energy hurled towards the BIG.

Yankees could care less about college sports. I've also rarely even found a BIG fan who cares more about their college football team than a professional one!

“I had a conversation the other day. What’s Tennessee doing with their quarterback position? Is this going to be the Faizon thing or the MacIntyre thing? From what I’m hearing, it’s probably going to be the Faizon thing,” Wallace said. “The term ‘Hail Mary’ was thrown out to me the other day in regards to MacIntyre getting the job – and meaning, he’s had a year and a half head start on the freshman to get in and win over the locker room and learn the playbook. You know, I’m not going to sit here and talk about someone’s weight, but he could have used 15 to 20 more pounds. But again, everybody’s body’s different. My biggest thing for him is knowing the offense.”
