War in Ukraine

Speculation here: Putin wanted to try one last push earlier this year and it failed. Equipment losses are horrendous as well as personnel losses. He did get some of eastern Ukraine, which he will keep. It's sort of a take what you can get and move on type of deal. The Ukrainians fought much harder and effectively than he ever thought.

Now, with probably over 2 million combined casualties and countless lives shattered, Europe can move on.....move on to the next tragedy that is, and Russia will sit that one out.

MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 9 that he thought the Ukraine war was coming to an end, remarks that came just hours after he had vowed victory in Ukraine at Moscow's most scaled-back Victory Day parade in years.

"I think that the matter is coming to an end," Putin told reporters of the Russia-Ukraine war, Europe's deadliest conflict since World War II. Putin also said he would be willing to negotiate new security arrangements for Europe, and that his preferred negotiating partner would be Germany's former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.

Wow. Is it finally going to end?
Hopefully, at least for now.

Well first off it does say "approximate to be confirmed". Second, it's casualties, not just deaths. Third, most people fully recognize what little importance the Russian military places on individual lives of their infantry. So I'm leaning towards it being fairly close to accurate...all things considered.

Russia has always lacked empathy when it comes to troop losses. Anyone and everyone is expendable. The same can be said for Z in Ukraine, but since the Ukrainians have been on the defensive for the most part in this trench warfare situation then we can safely assume that the Russian casualties are definitely very high.
