Looks to me like Iran is happy to play this long game. They’ve seemingly suppressed any notion of the Iranian people rising up to take power, know they can continue to strike their Gulf state neighbors in response to any US attacks creating further tension between the US and their allies in the ME, but above all else they know it will take boots on the ground to take this regime out. The US, nor anyone else, has the stomach or the money for it at this point.

The SPR is a waste of money, why are our tax dollars being spent on storing crude oil that still must be refined when we as a nation have all the oil we need in the ground for no charge?

Really depends on what we are using the release for. Either stabilize global markets or use for war machine energy. Our refineries are mostly tuned for heavy crude, and we extract mostly light.

Wonder how difficult it would be to retool? Probably totally different processes. If we could get them to retool, we could be self reliant. Just looked it up..we can refine 18 mbpd and 60% is heavy. We use 20+ mbpd. Would imagine these numbers are all petroleum products.
