I was at one of the nearby wally world stores picking up some food and I kept hearing someone dropping fbombs. Turn around and it is a woman, looked about 20 ish in a shopping cart being pushed by two other grown folks. Looked like she had a baby in the cart with her, less than a year old. I presume she was the mom. Kid is in the pulling up stage. Anyway, kid was doing what kids that age do. Picking up stuff and tossing it overboard. After several WTF the mom exclaimed "WTF are you doing! I should've aborted you." The other two with her thought the whole thing was hilarious.

I had to retreat to a different part of the store because I knew I was about to make the news if I stayed around those folks.

More of a vent, than just mad. It’s just sad that my 49 year old sister hasn’t got enough maturity (for a sum of words) about her, that my parents could depend on her for a situation like this. My mom, while waiting on surgery, had to call home to make sure my niece was up for school, because my sister just won’t help her own kid. Not to mention, if they’d needed her to bring them to the hospital. I drove them, dad still not resting good, he’s sleeping now in this waiting room, got maybe an hour last night. Me being here is a help, but if I wasn’t they couldn’t count on her. Just irks me, love her, but irks me.

I loved Ebay and have used for 18 years - I guess when they recently fired everyone and went to that automated crap with no live help things beginning to unravel, oh well seems like its AI with every company now

That’s an opinion, not a factual claim, so it can’t really be “true” or “false” in an objective sense.


AI is very useful in some areas and frustrating or unreliable in others. For example:


  • Strong at:
    • Summarizing information
    • Drafting emails/code/text
    • Brainstorming ideas
    • Explaining concepts
    • Automating repetitive tasks
  • Weak at:
    • Always being accurate
    • Understanding nuance perfectly
    • Replacing experts entirely
    • Real-time judgment in high-stakes situations
    • Handling ambiguous requests without context

A lot of people get disappointed when AI sounds confident but gives incomplete or wrong answers. That’s a legitimate criticism. On the other hand, many people use it daily for work, coding, research, writing, travel planning, and productivity because it saves time.


So a more balanced statement would be something like:


“AI is useful for some tasks but still unreliable enough to be frustrating.”"
