I remember 1979 when Magic Johnson created a scandal by going pro after his sophomore year.
Now if a player is any good; you probably just get to see them for one season.

It wasn't anything close to a "scandal' and the hardship rule allowing players to leave college early had been in place for a few years. Perhaps"scandal" was a poor contextual use of the word.
