The Slice and friends Yankees Baseball thread. 2026.

Admittedly, I was a Braves fan from 1966 until 2016. The second players strike took the wind out of my fandom, and my attendance withered to a handful of games each year. The fiasco preceding the Braves move to Cobb County killed it. I returned to minor league fandom until the management of the Gwinnett team decided to ignore the overwhelming fan support for renaming the team the Buttons (after signer of the Constitution, Button Gwinnett) and chose to call them the Stripers after an introduced fish in nearby Lake Lanier. I’m solely a fan of Tennessee Vols baseball, now.

Was this before or after you started waking up covered in slime because of "time travel"?

The slowly developing tales of movement through time and space (and the consequence of being covered in slime upon completion of a journey) are in parallel with my baseball fandom.

I like it. Thoughts?

I'm all for it. Volpe is not that good.
Yea…. Posted this in the other thread -

Of the 118 players who have at least 1,500 plate appearances since Volpe debuted in 2023, he has the worst on-base percentage, second-worst batting average, third-worst OPS, fourth-worst wRC+ and seventh-worst slugging percentage.

Schlittler’s previous career high was 100.8 mph, in his American League Wild Card Series start against the Red Sox last October. He exceeded that six times on Monday evening against the Orioles, topping out at 101.3 mph.

July 4, 1985: Rick Camp HR ties 18-inning game in Atlanta. John Sterling makes the call with Ernie Johnson along for the ride. I stayed up until 4 a.m. watching the madness.

I was there, on the front row of the upper deck, section 305. My friend and I didn’t stay for the fireworks. We met some bar staffers and played volleyball until sunrise, then had breakfast at a Waffle House.
