Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Haven't been to Texas to try real authentic, but have had a ton of transplants try to "show me" real BBQ.

My opinion is if you're a sauce person Texas is bottom shelf, if you love good smoked meat or dry rub you'll love Texas. Personally if it's actually well made I love all types of BBQ. The mustardy sauce from Carolina BBQ is my least favorite thing, but will still eat it gladly.

Man, Austin will just blow you away. I thought I hated brisket until I went to Texas. Interstellar BBQ literally changed my life when it comes to BBQ.

I have a few spots for a food tour whenever I get a chance to make it down there. Interstellar isn't on the list, but will add it.

The list...not all are in Austin though
Leroy and Lewis BBQ
Burnt Bean Co.
Truth BBQ
Bar-A-BBQ
Goldie's BBQ
Louie Mueller BBQ

Goldees for sure. Interstellar for sure. And Franklin's if you want the best of the best, though interstellar is almost as good with a much shorter wait time. Black's is another good one in Austin.

Great list, I haven't done truth or bar a or burnt bean, but have heard good things about all of them.

Goldees will change your views on Texas BBQ forever too, and on all BBQ in general. You'll find yourself laughing at the idea that you thought you knew how brisket is supposed to taste.

Does anyone league get rid of coaches quicker than the NBA? You can make the playoffs and still get fired. Happens all the time

The Miami Heat are the exception

Thoughts on KC BBQ……I go there for work a lot. Ok but not as good as Memphis imo.
Worst of the big 4 in my opinion. Poorly smoked meat drowned in overly sweet sauce. Even the best places in KC (Joe's, Q) don't really do KC style, they're famous for Texas style brisket lol
The famous actual KC style places are just bad, I'd go to buddy's BBQ any day over Arthur Bryant or Gates.

Memphis style is really good, there are just so few elite purveyors of Memphis style in Memphis anymore. Memphis is actually similar to Texas in that it's all about the smoking technique and seasoning.

1a Texas
1b Carolina
3 Memphis
4 KC

Random thought. One of the reasons I am optimistic that we are close to being an elite football program was how our fanbase was clueless to the character issues with James Pearce. I mean, we had that information on lockdown!
