Blows Memphis out of the water for sure.
Debatable. Not saying that’s where you’ve gone, but the “commercial” places in Memphis don’t have the best BBQ in the city. Many of the good Memphis style bbq places are local food trucks and places that aren’t promoted on travel guides.

Texas style is obviously different as well (outside of the way it’s prepared), my experience they seem to use more beef and sausages whereas Memphis uses more pork (big on pork) and chicken. Matter of preference. I’ve had good versions of both and enjoyed both. I do prefer pork ribs over beef ribs but that’s just me.

I have had good Memphis BBQ, but the best Texas BBQ is just so much better than the best Memphis BBQ. Now Carolina is a different conversation.

Unreal how much this team struggles in series versus meaty okra teams.
Decent mediocre offense + good starting pitching + average defense + awful b.o.t.b relief pitching = this year's average/good Tennessee Volunteers baseball team.

Now we know why Tony was miffed with not enough NIL for the BB team.

Happy Monday

Scripture — Gospel of John 16:33 (NIV)
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Reflection:
These words come from Jesus on the night before the cross. That matters.
He did not say, “You might have trouble.”
He said, “You will.”
Jesus never built faith on false comfort. He built it on truth.

There will be pressure. There will be loss. There will be seasons where answers feel delayed, where people misunderstand you, where the weight of responsibility feels heavier than expected.

But notice where peace is found:
“In me you may have peace.”
Not in perfect circumstances.
Not in easy people.
Not in predictable outcomes.
In Him.

And then He says:
“Take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Not “I will someday.”
Not “I’m trying to.”
“I have overcome.”
The victory of Christ was already certain—even before the cross was fully visible to the disciples.
That means whatever you’re walking through today—stress, uncertainty, conflict, responsibility, disappointment—it does not get the final word.
Christ does.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for speaking honestly about this world. Thank You that You never promised an easy road, but You did promise Your peace. When pressure rises, help me remember that peace is found in You—not in circumstances I can control. Strengthen my heart today. Remind me that because You have overcome, I do not have to live defeated. Help me walk with courage, steadiness, and trust in every conversation, decision, and challenge ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
