Not to mention Monday night wrestling.Memphis wrestling was the best. The Mid South Coliseum is close by at the Fairgrounds, and was the Tigers’ home for decades. It certainly needs to be renovated, but is a wonderful venue for basketball. In addition, Elvis, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. performed there.
This is a copy and paste of the recipe he sent me over a decade ago:You going to share?
And here’s the soul seasoning recipe he sent me:This is a copy and paste of the recipe he sent me over a decade ago:
1. Marinate chicken in Franks' Hot Sauce for several hours, longer the better, in the refrigerator.
2. Heat the oil, 325-350 degrees; I prefer 350 as the volume immediately lowers the temp.
3. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
4. Remove the marinated chicken from refrigerator and IMMEDIATELY shake excess sauce and drop into hot grease. REMEMBER, one of the keys is cooking the chicken while it's cold. When they float in the grease, they’re done. Should be 10-12 minutes for smaller pieces, no more than 15 minutes for all pieces.
5. Remove cooked chicken from grease. Keep the grease hot, though.
6. Add soul seasoning and coat in cornstarch. Cook in heated oven for 5 minutes.
7. Remove from oven and dip in hot oil for about a minute longer, then remove.
8. Toss in Franks Hot Sauce.
The Coliseum rocked as hard as any arena back in the Kirk and Finch days. Denny Crum coming into town with the likes of Milt Wagner, Pervis Ellison etc was an unreal atmosphere and one of the best in the country. Packed, loud, raucous and intimidating. The Mid South Coliseum is close by at the Fairgrounds, and was the Tigers’ home for decades. Yes, and Jumpmaster. Also remember Smokey81,82,83 or something like that. I believe he was an old fraternity brother. He was a Frank’s hot sauce guy. I started out as Voluble on Gridscape in it’s early days; later changed to vol81. Joined this site as vol81 bout 20 yrs ago.
Anybody remember Jumpingjackflash from Chuck’s site?
