I thought it was 50?

Some of the crap is from the 50's. and 60's. We meddled in Iran, Israel created Hamas, ... Most of it is at best partially true but even if were all true, it doesn't amount to a hill of beans now. Some people are acting like this stuff happened last week and Trump did it.
The U.S. and Israeli policies change with each new group of leaders. How many Presidents have we had since 1953? Look at all the policies that have changed from the last administration to the current administration (thank the Lord).

The point is Iran has been an undealt with problem for that long. What happend back then does not have any bearing on what is happening now. It doesn't really matter if the mullahs were placed in power by the Keebler Elves, the problem is that they were there.

Invading Taiwan by sea or air would be a nightmare and a blood bath. Holding it would much the same.
China could wipe Taiwan off the map but that would defeat their purpose, they want their tech. And the Chinese know that would mean the end of them too.
But the biggest reason that won't do it is because we make things really ugly for them and they know it. We control the choke points now.

China has a plethora of military-age males that they have no qualms with sacrificing to take Taiwan, and they will have inside help when they decide to make their move.

This administration has eased sanctions on Russia so they could make money from their oil at the same as they were providing targeting intelligence to Iran. This administration is far and away more chaotic than any other in my lifetime. It's a CF created by unqualified, incompetent and inexperienced administrators. I didn't say it didn't matter, it is important to understand history as human nature never changes. Practically speaking none of those things being brought up make any difference in the present situation. Weapons we provided and money we gave 50 years ago has no bearing on the now. The weapons are used or obsolete, the money is long spent.

Crossing the Taiwan strait would take roughly 6 hours, the closest US carrier group is Yokosuka, Japan, or patrolling the Philippine Sea.

I will agree with on some things. It is true that they value human life very little and will not hesitate to sacrifice a lot of it. Also I think that China will someday overtake Taiwan, but it will be peacefully. China has spent the decades getting their tentacles in to Taiwan, and that is how they operate. They were attempting the same thing in Panama and Venezuela until we put a stop to it.
But for the time being the U.S. cannot allow China to take control of Taiwan because we get vitally important stuff from Taiwan. Actually China does too and that is the main reason they want us out. We are currently (finally) setting up shop here to make those products domestically. Until we get that up and running, we need access to Taiwan.

It's important to understand those things but that doesn't mean they have any bearing on the current situation. It doesn't matter if the mullahs pulled a sword out of a stone and the Lady of the Lake gave them Excalibur. The Islamic Regime was there and they need dealt with.

you really think its just going to be a blockade? no airstrikes on ground targets. No running ships thru the straight to try and open it? no other escalation? no trying to take out their leadership? No attempts to go after their supply of nuclear material.
