From what I'm seeing is they are both the same height (6'9"). Hastings is at best a 50% free throw shooter and Lue is at about 70%. Hastings has not hit a 3 pointer yet. What makes Hastings a better choice?I figured. Mainly my preference of Hastings for Lue, though I don't dislike Lue, necessarily.
He looks thicker and more powerful, but stat wise he has a decently higher rebound and block rate. More of a true post player imo. From what I'm seeing is they are both the same height (6'9"). You bring up a good point that might need to be discussed about the defense. I am curious if you have put any thought into forming an opinion about Lundblade's defense?Perimeter defense and/or rebounding are what this roster could use the most with the last spot IMO. Assuming we land Juke.
although there is one player on the roster nobody is talking about who could potentially make a difference in both of those areas. If Ralph Scott is ready to be a solid contributor as a freshman that could be big imo.
Hastings' FG%, rebounding, and shot blocking are all marginally better across 100 possessions in a P4 conference. From what I'm seeing is they are both the same height (6'9"). What if I say Hastings would’ve costed 3x as much?Hastings' FG%, rebounding, and shot blocking are all marginally better across 100 possessions in a P4 conference.
FT% for a guy who is likely to attempt less than 4 shots per game isn't really a deciding factor for me.
Additionally, with all of our shooters, not sure Lue is gonna take many 3s, either.
It isn't an opinion I'm willing to die holding onto, but I think a strong case can be made for Hastings.
The budget has felt rather open-ended based on who we are landing and still pursuing, but I digress. Like I said, if we are now watching the bottom-line, then give me Lue. I'm not really willing to bang the table and stand up in preference of Hastings. Not bound by a salary cap, but we do have a “budget”
Agreed, but lack of rebounding production in a mid major conference bothers me. Especially given that area was already one of this rosters weaknesses imo.Lue has some potential offensive game also, he would’ve ranked 3rd on our team in 3ptFGA this past year, % isn’t great at 30%, but that’s also not horrendous for a big. He also shoots 70% from the FT line so there’s a solid chance that maybe that 3pt % could tick up a bit, much more offensive potential with him than Hastings imo.
Often times players trying to block shots don’t also rebound great, I feel like he probably can improve in that area but I do agree it’s something to watch currently.Agreed, but lack of rebounding production in a mid major conference bothers me.
