Scripture — 1 Peter 1:18–19 (NIV)
ā€œFor you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.ā€

Reflection:
Peter draws a sharp contrast—between what fades and what endures. Silver and gold carry value in the world. They represent effort, achievement, security. But Peter says your redemption was not purchased with any of that. Not with something earned, traded, or accumulated. It was purchased with something altogether different—something personal, costly, and irreversible.

ā€œThe precious blood of Christ.ā€
That word precious matters. It speaks to weight, to worth, to something that cannot be replaced once given.

And notice what you were redeemed from: ā€œthe empty way of life.ā€ Not just sin in the obvious sense, but the deeper pattern—living for things that cannot ultimately hold you, satisfy you, or secure you.

This reframes value. If your life was redeemed at that cost, then your worth is not fluctuating with performance, comparison, or outcome. It is anchored in something already paid in full.
It also reframes direction. Redemption is not just rescue—it’s reorientation. You were not just brought out of something empty; you were brought into something purposeful.
There is a quiet steadiness in that truth. You don’t have to prove your value today. You live from it.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that my worth is not tied to things that fade or fluctuate. You did not redeem me with something temporary, but with something precious and final. Help me live in a way that reflects that truth—not chasing what is empty, but walking in what is lasting. Anchor my identity in what You have already done, not what I am trying to achieve. Let that shape my decisions, my priorities, and my peace today. Amen.

This happens all the time to players. Player gets injured and rehabs. Needs more tape to show they are healed but chose to sit. Gets told they are still a top pick and still fall out of the first round. McCoy should have tried to play a few games for film or came back for a year to be a top ten pick. We really needed these corners to be first rounders to pitch going forward. Whoever takes McCoy is getting an absolute steal for the future.
Play or no play the NFL teams would've still been alarmed by the bone plug in his knee... Still would've dropped due to those concerns.

4 of the 7 would be available today barring something unexpected. In a real pinch, 5 of the 7.
what's most concerning to me is the lack of a home field advantage. yes team has under performed even against Tony-less expectations. Elander has done soul searching to do in off season. if he's going to be emotionless, and all frontal lobed thinker. He needs to win every chess match. right now i'd say his winning pct in game decisions is < 30%. Perhaps its better than that, but it feels we don't adjust well. Also decision to start Mack, he just doesnt have it. Gotta put him in the pen.

No home field advantage last season either with TV in charge. That’s not an Elander specific thing.

1-4 in conference series @ LNS in 2025. 4 straight SEC series losses @ home to close the season and 5 straight SEC series losses overall.

I think Tony/Frank/Elander have really missed on evals the last couple years. Tried to go with ā€œdifferentā€ looks in the pen for this year and it has cost them multiple games cause the pen just isn’t very good.

I’m still on the Elander will be a good coach train. Can’t judge him based off a season where he took over in October and had to replace: himself, pitching coach & S&C coach

Elander isnt resp for the arms in the pen. Far as i'm concerned. The one variable I'd bring up is how would things have changed had they been coached by Frank? Wasn't the biggest fan of promoting PC within.

The ETSU kid is perfect example. Was gangbusters to start. Now just gets rocked.

Either its S&C, teams figured something out, or poor coaching.

Yep rebuilding nearly the entire pitching staff in the offseason did not work. For the most part have gotten good production from weekend starters but the bullpen has been pretty bad.

On the hitting side, will look like a whole new lineup again next season.

Wright - does he sign?
Ford - gone
Chapman - gone
Grimmer - likely signs
Grindlinger - keep out of portal
Stone - draft eligible, should return
Brown - keep out of portal (potential)
Marin - likely signs (draft eligible soph)
Levi - keep out of portal (potential)

So potential to lose 5-9 starters to draft signings.

If he had played and played well for three games, he would have been drafted last night. Again, this happens to players all the time who don’t workout for nfl teams and come back from injury without film. I thought hood at a better shot and was hoping he would be taken. We need more players to be drafted. It was obvious McCoy wasn’t gonna be a first rounder the day he decided to not play. Ask anyone who has played at the highest level.

Hopefully Tate works out well for the Titans...

Reese being there and having the highest grade of any player in the draft (according to NFL.com grade) seemed like the pick. Them taking EDGE at the end of the round makes it even more confusing.

Giants, Browns, & Cowboys had a good first night...Washington landing Sonny where they did without having to spend anything to move up is a great pick imo.
