Titans don't pick again til the third round. Wonder if they try to trade back into the second for a guard? Need to get some OL help to protect Cam.

JMO, but OL and defense is what they should be looking at.

Day 2 of the draft, I think we could see 4 Vols taken. Very possible IMO that Josephs sneaks into the third round. My guess is we see McCoy, Hood, Brazzell, and Josephs on Day 2, and then Joey and Eason on Day 3. Kitselman could sneak in late, but more likely an UDFA.

It's a shame that players that get new medical information leading into the draft cannot withdraw. McCoy would be much better served to play his senior year with a huge NIL deal. One of two things would happen:

1) Dispel any concerns about his knee and become a top 5-10 pick next year. Pics 5-10 earn 4-year contracts with 5th year options worth 30-40 million and 20 million in guarateed signing bonuses.
2) Hang it up because his knee won't recover

Second rounders typically get 3–4-year deals worth 6-9 mil and a million-dollar signing bonus. He could earn 3-4 million for his senior year alone.

He should’ve played this year
Sitting out cost him

He genuinely tried. It didn’t work.

Now teams find out new info there’s another issue. I’d be nervous too.

When CBs fall off in the NFL, they typically fall off fast. Any risk of injury shortens his NFL lifespan a lot as a CB.

Has nothing to do with quitting on the team. He tried to come back. The knee kept swelling.

I think he's a good WR2 option. It's what he was this year in college, opposite arguably the best WR in the college game. As a late first round pick, he would be a good choice. At the number four pick of the first round? That's a reach, IMO. That early in the draft you take a game changer, not a WR2. Now, if that had been Jeremiah Smith, (Ohio State's actual WR1), I would say great pick. I think if the RB, Love, had been picked there, I'd say good pick. He has the ability to change the game. But no one on offense that was still on the board struck me as a good pick at #4 in the draft. The value, IMO, was on defense. I do think the Titans could have struck gold with either Downs or Styles. You either solidify the backend or your defense or the middle if you pick either of those IMO. Both have the ability to change the game, again, IMO. I just don't see the value in Tate ate the #4 pick.

i'm really surprised hood wasn't taken in first round. rest of them kinda figured wouldn't happen.

I dont get the hate for the tate pick, he could be really solid for us. I do think we could have traded back to 8-9 and got a few more picks and still have gotten him though

NFL franchises are dumb as hell. Jermod McCoy is a top 10 pick talent lmao
I personally dont think he goes until the 3rd round at best. Nfl teams look at him sitting all of last year (when he admitted he could have played essentially arkansas week) and now it’s looking like he could miss this season because of the new knee surgery, why would a team waste a high value pick on someone who couldnt play this year when they could draft someone who could contribute immediately?

It is interesting for the Titans now at WR. Young core of Tate, Wandale, Dike, Ayomanor. Do they trade Ridley for whatever type of pick they can get?

Finally some talent around Mr Ward. Would imagine IOL in rd 4 to compete at guard. Think it sets up like a solid draft filling needs

Truly if they are going that route and trading down then they have a plan.

My understanding is they've made some internal changes with scouting, etc. I'd say with football dividends arent seen overnight.

Excusing our silly 'Titans Suck' narrative. I'd really like to see them fill needs and become nasty on defense, and run the damn ball. Archaic or not.

Admittedly several years back, prior to 2024. WR seemed to be a deficiency. Good on them for seeing the forest for the trees.

War Room

With two weeks to go in the semester, the focus remains on finishing in the classroom and the weight room before the players get a couple weeks off before starting summer school and what Josh Heupel refers to as the third quarter of the offseason program. That means it’s all about strength coach Derek Owings for the next three months. There will be football work with the coaches on the field, but the focus at this point is on the plan Owings has for this team.

The summer is big for plenty of players at plenty of positions. It’s certainly important for the defensive line, a line that has a lot of first- and second-year players in it.

For guys like Ethan Utley and Isaiah Campbell it’s important as it is for JJ Finch. Finch impressed in the spring and could be a factor this fall. In that interior, newcomer Xavier Gilliam has been challenged to be a leader along with Nathan Robinson, even though Gilliam has only been here since January. Gilliam’s play got everyone’s attention in the spring as well as their respect. By the way, Robinson had his best spring thanks to his health and is posed to have his best offseason of his career.

At defensive end, Mariyon Dye’s challenge is to work on speed at quickness to develop a better speed rush and outside rush. At the LEO spot, this is an important summer Christian Gass. Gass is coming off the hip injury last fall and wasn’t as effective this spring as everyone had hoped. His continued recovery this summer could be big for that position.

Everyone is still asking about transfer Chaz Coleman. Coleman has been on campus and in the building all spring. He was in the building this week. He did community service work with FCA and teammates this week as they provided food for the homeless in Knoxville. So he continues to be around. It’s an important summer for him as well if he’s going to be a big factor this fall.

The bottom line with the LEO position is there might be some creativity involved schematically and with personnel as well. One can make the case that Tennessee’s two best pass rushers this spring were Gilliam and Jordan Norman. Both repeatedly made plays in scrimmage settings.

Position coaches have had post spring exit meetings laying out goals for guys over the next couple of months.

For the receivers, it’s catching a lot of balls off the jugs machine particularly for the young receivers.

Tennessee is a couple of months away from becoming an adidas school. As we noted on the General’s Quarters earlier this week after several of you asked in the Monday chat, the plan is for Tennessee to use adidas footballs. The footballs are made by the same company as Nike footballs — just with a different logo on the side — so there shouldn’t be any change there. As for uniform reveals and all of that stuff, don’t look for any kind of major fashion show. Nothing will happen before July 1. But sports are starting to get in adidas gear in anticipation for July.

One thing that has been nice for the coaching staff is that there has been no dealing with the transfer portal and trying to retain a roster. The one portal window has been welcomed by everyone in college football. They may not all like the timing of it, but they certainly like having one window instead of two.

We mentioned it last week, Tennessee has sodded the new area on the practice field and will re-sod part of the existing practice field which basically completes what has been a long, long project on the expansion of the Anderson Training Center. They have also put the base for the General Neyland statue outside of Gate 9 in preparation for moving it there this summer.

There’s still nothing definitive at this point regarding the plan for the G-10 parking garage once the semester and graduations are over. In her appearance on The Mike Keith Show on Thursday, deputy athletics director Alicia Longworth was asked about opening the G-10 garage exit up to Phillip Fulmer way this fall, which she said would happen once pedestrian traffic was clear. But she also didn’t rule out G-10 looking different this fall.

“G-10 for football season may look very different. As we all know, we are still working towards the entertainment district. One of the challenges for football is the amount of pedestrian traffic we have exiting the stadium at one time. It’s a great challenge. You have 1o0,000 people in there, but when the game is over all those people are rushing into roadways.

“Once the pedestrian traffic clears then absolutely that will open back up.”

From all accounts, it seems like Borgonzi is the real deal. Borgonzi hit on his 4-5th rd pick last year. If he can do it again, titans may be halfway decent and win 7-9 games this year

This happens all the time to players. Player gets injured and rehabs. Needs more tape to show they are healed but chose to sit. Gets told they are still a top pick and still fall out of the first round. McCoy should have tried to play a few games for film or came back for a year to be a top ten pick. We really needed these corners to be first rounders to pitch going forward. Whoever takes McCoy is getting an absolute steal for the future.

Kelsey Pope remained on the road on Thursday as well, and he continued to check in on highly sought 2028 wide receivers. Pope made stops at the schools of a trio of four-star wide receivers in the class, including David Thomas, Damarion Mays, and Brendyn Jackson.

---

Garner also spent time in Mississippi checking in on defensive line prospects across various classes, including Eric Vaulx Jr and Andrae Maddox. Vaulx tells us he is set to be in town for an official visit the weekend of June 19th. Vaulx also tells us that Tennessee has made him feel like a priority of late.
