2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Austin price seems to think there aren’t enough minutes to go around between Ament and Juke and that its an either/or proposition
Then there's nothing to get worked up over with either player. They're both operating on the same calendar. Barnes can sign the first one to jump and be just fine.

Don't forget the round mound of rebound. Think he was 6'5". There's also the great Bill Russell. He was 6'9"/6'10". There's a lot of "want to" in playing great defense and rebounding rebounding.
Yeah, height is way overrated for rebounding. Weight and “want to” are probably both bigger factors.

Lue looks impressive. Really think staff did good job scouting on this one. He can move well and athletic and has 2 years of eligibility left. Averaged double figures each of first two years.
I liked him. Granted, the sec will be a huge step up, but we've seen this before. If Barnes thinks he can play, who are we to argue?

Being taller doesn’t mean better rebounder. Carey for example 3-4 inches shorter than JP but a better defensive rebounder because he used his body and both hands. Not being a ball watcher and anticipating where the rebound is going are key skills as well.

Based on pre draft grades…I would be more than surprised if Juke goes pro. Especially since its a weaker class next year and his stock is only going to go up.
Juke is looking at going at the end of round 1.
Ament is rumored to go 18 to Charlotte. They should both come back.

3 am. Papermill Waffle house. I’m camping out back. There’s actually like eight other guys already camping here.

If Lue is Ricks other Center with Rubin we are planning to RUN this year. Especially if Haralson is the 4. The blocks and boards might go down but we are going to be screaming on tips, steals, and fast breaks.

This is such a drastic change in philosophy. Should be fun.

To be honest...I want the rebounds to go down...

We were 2nd in offensive rebounds per game with 15.9 and that put us 4th in total rebounds per game at 42.5

But we were 120th in FG% at 46.1%, 208th in 3PT% at 33.4% and our 2 PT% was 202nd at 52%... hit more shots, score more points, grab less offensive rebounds.

Cause the one number that doesn't get talked about enough...we gave up the most defensive rebounds at 19.7 a game and the 10th most total rebounds at 29.9 so it was just us benefiting from the poor shooting we had.

Next years class is a weaker class. As to the “trends” you cite…although I don’t know it to be true, I don’t have any evidence to disprove it either.

Everything I’ve seen from pre draft grades, expect Juke to stay in college one more year. I believe the latest he would/could make his decision would be late May.
It's true, the NBA feels the longer you're in college, the closer to the peak you are. It’s why DK looked like a top 3 college player but fell to the teens in the draft.

I'm really looking forward to hearing how Ted Hall covers this one.

"Nine-person basketball-related ritual sacrifice at local restaurant -- how far would YOU take your Vols fandom?"
Not even in the top 10 of crazy things in the history of that Waffle House. Trust me, I’ve been a part of 3-4 of the top 10.

Idk about ya’ll but I am salty as hell that Florida’s entire starting lineup is forgoing the draft to come back and play for that creep, meanwhile we have to sweat 2 players who should stay in school AND we’ll pay them whatever they want to do it. Maybe I’m being dramatic, but I am sick of always having one of our biggest rivals in our way.

If Juke and Ament both want in, you make a way for them both to get in. Like others have said, they will get their minutes not at the expense of the other, but of someone else. It would be someone like Lundblade or Ames that sees their minutes decrease, not Juke Harris, if Ament were to decide to return.

You’re right about totals, but we were 1st naturally in OR%. So it wasn’t a volume thing. We got more rebounds as a percentage of our misses than anyone in the country.

I agree though. We need more efficient scoring. Absolutely.

I'm a regular on the Atlanta Falcons message board, which is an offshoot survivor of the one that got killed on AtlantaFalcons.com.

Two of the guys on that board, in their infinite wisdom, once hashed out an online argument in a Waffle House parking lot.

It got broken up by some Waffle House employees who looked actively disgusted by what weak fighters they were. Like, the cook and waiter were sad that one of the great joys of their job, parking lot brawls, was lessened by those two clumsy buffoons.
