Agree, 2 time SEC PoY, average NBA player. But, Grant was the straw that stirred the drink for the Vols and so was Nate along with Jakobi. My point is, that most of the time when the game was on the line, the ball was in Nate's hands, if it wasn't in JGs. Can you say the same about Ames, if he was on the Vols, last year ?

Probably so, if Nate wasn’t lol, no other options. You might wanna look up how many game winners Dai Dai has, it’s more than Nate.

We already have Ames, why compare him and Nate. If you're going to compare 2 players, it's Juke and Ament , because they play the same position. Although Juke could play the 2 if they both want in.

What the hell does it matter, Ames is a Vol, Nate isnt at the present. Worry about what you have, not what you want.

I don’t think Dai Dai will require the ball dominance Nate did, you can consider that a good or a bad thing, there will be more options. I’m simply looking at it that Nate this year wasn’t nearly as efficient scoring almost the exact same PPG as Dai Dai was this year, but on a much worse team being the focus of opposing teams, he had no Gillespie alongside him. So I could see a world in which he scores 16-17 like Nate, but does it on a much more efficient level than Nate did last year, or Dai Dai did last year.

I see what you are saying on Ames vs Ament but I think you are forgetting defense and rebounding. Ament’s value in those two areas compared to Ames would outweigh Ames slight edge in shooting efficiency imo.

Also, Gillispie is a much better defender than Hill. That position will be a downgrade imo. Same with Lanblade vs Boswell. I would honestly take Boswell straight up over Lundblade right now.

We clearly don’t see eye to eye on the value of defense and rebounding.

I think as of right now last years roster was better than our current one. Granted if we land Juke that changes, but even then I don’t think we would good enough defensively and on the boards to get to the final 4.

Top 10 team yes, but imo we would need Juke AND either Ament or TT to have a final 4 caliber roster.

Niko Bundalo just entered, 6'10" 215lbs FR from Ole Miss former top 50 overall in his class
Sheek Pearson from Marquette 6'11" 205lbs redshirted so still has 4 years left top 25 PF in his class

Portal has over 800 players uncommitted...I think we'll find some solid additions still.

Fred Payne, come on down. He should be relatively cheap and is able to get downhill at a solid rate. Go sign a serviceable reserve center, trust the process with Juke and field a competitive team for next year.

My dream scenario is Payne, Juke and a solid big man add…call it a day. I unfortunately don’t think that’s the route they’ll go, but I would love it if they did.

Payne's % scare me off a bit...but if he's not overly expensive another guard that can handle ball handling and facilitate isn't a bad thing.
