2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Well, I really hope Juke doesn’t jerk us around for too long. Not having a decision on him could put us in a bind since we could have used that money to coax another game changer into the portal.
I don’t think he’s going to let us down. Everything I’ve been told and read from all sources say that we are still a heavy favorite.

I think he’s comparing what we got from Ament last year to what he anticipates we get from Ames this year, which is fair since it’s a Last Year versus Next Year discussion, but I’m still not sure I agree on that comparison.

There was a 3-4 week period in the middle of SEC play where Ament, when healthy, was playing like a Top 5 pick. I think we’d be lucky to get that from Ames next year.
This will piss some off but her goes..yes for a few games ament looked really good. However, being loose with the ball (how many games in first possession did he just basically m hand the ball to a defender?) passive play, poor body language, poor defensively on the perimeter, getting pushed around on the block, picking up his dribble for no reason and tendency to get trapped and his out of bounds errors stick in my head. I know he was hurt but he avgd 10 ppg in the tourney. If we get that far again I bet Ames and Haralson both avg more.
When he hit a couple and had confidence, he looked like a different player. Problem is we saw the other side more than the dog. He needs to learn to play like a dog every minute instead of every few minutes.

Fair. But we also had a lot of internet speculation we’d close with Tanner and that didn’t happen. I’m just a bit worried Michigan may come in with an undeniable bag or he decides to just go to the draft. Him waiting till after the portal closes to commit is unfortunately smart business because it’s just going to drive the price up even more.

On the bigs search ... Tennessee has spent the past couple days looking into bigs and searching for its ideal fits in the portal. The staff has talked to some options and will whittle that group down to who they want to visit.

Tennessee has brought in visitors very specifically so far this offseason. It will keep doing so with the bigs.

My question is why are we just now whittling down our list and still figuring who we want when only 15 of the top 100 portal guys are still available and we’ve known there is a major need in post for a while now?
Because they’re asleep at the wheel

I didn't say it was Rubin's fault, though. But it is what it is. It's nothing personal.
You're asking people to project what he might be and equate it to what we know Okpara is when we've never seen him even play against that kind of competition. You're argument against it is that Hill plays in the same conference but he HAS played and performed well against P4 competition.

I'm not doing that though...I'm looking at Rubin's production at the A-10 level and Felix's at the SEC level. I'm saying even with Rubin's dip from stepping up in competition I still think he can be on the same level as Felix was nothing more than that.

I mean in 16 minutes against Boston College as a freshmen Rubin scored 8 points, and grabbed 4 rebounds with 2 blocks...that's just 2 or so rebounds less than Felix's averages...

You don't have to agree with me, I'm not changing my mind on it though. It is my opinion in April that Rubin can be equal to Felix's production.

I think the need is for quantity, not quality. I mean, they've got to rebound and play defense, but they should still be available in the top 200, not necessarily in the top 100.

Whittling down does not sound good at all. How hard is it to see that Thiam and Diop are still there. If they have money one of those should be signed.
They’ve got the money for both!!! Plus also Yesserfou, Juke & Nate! Then they can also still have enough in case of 5th year and they’ll bring back Gillespie and Felix, right?!

We’ve literally upgraded at every spot when comparing portal entries to portal acquisitions…but we aren’t happy…this is why I don’t log in during the season…
With all due respect, I really don’t understand how you can say that. You’re considering just guys portaling out while ignoring the three best players either ran out of eligibility or are probably heading to the draft.

Yeah, that's an interesting take. I think if I said that, BTO would be laughing out loud at me. Since he's the one saying it, I'll say maybe he knows something about Ames' potential that I don't.
Nate averaged 16.7ppg on 45.2%efg, Ames averaged 16.9ppg on 52.7%efg…I don’t think it’s a crazy take.

Gracious you act like a baby too often. Bone was listed taller like just about every basketball player used to do.
Edit: just looked at combine. Measured just over 6’1. Like I said. Argue with yourself.
What was punter listed at his senior year at UT?
