2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

But smaller with a better 3 ball.

I think folks are just bringing him up because outta HS he had an offer from us. He's also a former 5 star top 15 player...if you're asking should we take him absolutely is my answer. Would I say he's a take over Juke, no...
Right, I don’t think you can take him & Juke was my point…and if you take him you’re playing him and Haralson at the 3/4 which means you’ve got 3 dudes on the court that can’t shoot from 3

What control does Rubin have for Loyola's scheduling though? Lundblade & Belmont also didn't play any P4 competition.

Rubin has a great motor, great size, and is an absolute machine on defense...A-10 is a good conference, they were 6th best in winning % with only the MM conferences ahead of them.
I didn't say it was Rubin's fault, though. But it is what it is. It's nothing personal.
You're asking people to project what he might be and equate it to what we know Okpara is when we've never seen him even play against that kind of competition. You're argument against it is that Hill plays in the same conference but he HAS played and performed well against P4 competition.

I think he’s comparing what we got from Ament last year to what he anticipates we get from Ames this year, which is fair since it’s a Last Year versus Next Year discussion, but I’m still not sure I agree on that comparison.

There was a 3-4 week period in the middle of SEC play where Ament, when healthy, was playing like a Top 5 pick. I think we’d be lucky to get that from Ames next year.
We might not get the 3 week period of elite play, but we also might not get the 5 weeks of hot garbage play where folks wanted him benched either

So no Tanner or Anderson? Guess we can officially move on now. Hope we hear from Juke soon but that’s likely to drag out i’m sure

Hot take, for sure.

I saw your explanation. Not sure I agree as I think a healthy Ament with an offseason in the S&C program takes a giant leap, but its an interesting discussion.

Yeah...I mean if the argument is purely offense I could agree...Dai Dai is a bucket and efficient as they come, but Nate lead the team in rebounding as well as put up 16.7ppg

On the bigs search ... Tennessee has spent the past couple days looking into bigs and searching for its ideal fits in the portal. The staff has talked to some options and will whittle that group down to who they want to visit.

Tennessee has brought in visitors very specifically so far this offseason. It will keep doing so with the bigs.

My question is why are we just now whittling down our list and still figuring who we want when only 15 of the top 100 portal guys are still available and we’ve known there is a major need in post for a while now?

Well, I can’t say I’ve asked bone or punter to stand beside me naked footed. But whatever, argue with yourself I guess.
Gracious you act like a baby too often. Bone was listed taller like just about every basketball player used to do.
Edit: just looked at combine. Measured just over 6’1. Like I said. Argue with yourself.

Curious to see is there’s any chance we pivot, since TT stood us up like a date on prom night, and use that bag to secure a starting C or will go try and bargain shop for a few guys in that role?

Also-just a thought, I’m sure that the in home discussion with Barnes and Ament will have some bearing on this.

What does that mean? Basically, Tanner is dead and hoping for an Ament surprise?
This was in regards to Tanner. To be clear, Tanner to UT was very real. But as @Stoerner Fumbles and others have said, a lot of factors to weigh and sounds like either NBA or staying at Vandy is his move unless something in the next 3ish hours changes

Jordan Bone attended the NBA combine. 6'1 1/2" without shoes, 6' 2 3/4" with shoes

Kevin Punter we don't have exact data like that as he wasn't an attendee.

I’m guessing it has to do with how much our budget allows—essentially TT may have hung us up some. Just a guess.

Whittling down does not sound good at all. How hard is it to see that Thiam and Diop are still there. If they have money one of those should be signed.

Well, I really hope Juke doesn’t jerk us around for too long. Not having a decision on him could put us in a bind since we could have used that money to coax another game changer into the portal.

Yeah, that's an interesting take. I think if I said that, BTO would be laughing out loud at me. Since he's the one saying it, I'll say maybe he knows something about Ames' potential that I don't.

Yeah, based on roster right now...doesn't seem like a fit. Unless he's the "we missed on Juke" option, which honestly I wouldn't be disappointed. His 3 shooting isn't that scary I think playing out of position and trying to take them over length is part of the issue there. He seems like a glue guy that has an offensive game as well. 6 rebounds and 2 steals a game with the best defensive rating on his team are positives.
