People have varying opinions but recruiting basketball and football aren’t comparable. I believe we had to replace 40+ players in the football program and believe he did a pretty good job. Calling Heup lazy is a lazy take, especially since he’s had more 5*s than any other coach we’ve had.Heupel feels lazy compared to Barnes. I don’t care about the amount of spots differentiating between sports. Maybe Barnes should have found Heupel a quarterback. We knew our needs after the Ohio state game and got lackluster effort.
Barnes is basically a nursing home patient by age and is out recruiting everyone. Super impressive and hope we land Juke soon.
He could be more aggressive in portal though. He will have to be to make it here. Barnes knows how how to go to his big donors when he needs something.People have varying opinions but recruiting basketball and football aren’t comparable. I guess then the question becomes, do we take a center that is outside the Top 100 that Barnes thinks has potential and is just another big body to help with rebounding/depth?Those guys are also commanding insane money, Evan Miya had a great piece about this, smart teams are gonna find way more value in every spot outside of the big men
If we are getting involved with Freeman, I would think it is contingency planning in the event we don't get Harris and Ament goes pro. Freeman and Haralson could play together, if we don't have Harris/Ament at SF. Smart play, plus it likely drives up the market price for Kentucky since they are somewhat desperate. St. John's has been quiet...they probably need him moreso than anyone.Trilly saying Tennessee & St. John’s have entered the chat for Freeman, KSR also in full freak out mode about it for anyone looking for some light reading prior to bed lol
Exactly. I watched him a lot because i’m from Syracuse. If he has his head screwed on straight he would realize Pitino and Barnes and hall of fame coaches and the NIL is there as wellWe have money for this. Use the Tanner money here. Hill and Ames can handle the point. I see no reason why Freeman would go play for Pope over Pitino or Barnes.

If the staff was optimistic Tanner was coming i don’t think we’d suddenly be trying for a player as expensive as Freeman will be
Baylor in 2021 was very similar to this.I don’t necessarily think you need an “Elite” big man to field a Final Four team but you absolutely need to have multiple ball handlers who can score and create some offense.
If you’re able to find a serviceable 6’10 big man whom can rebound and give you around 8-10 points a game, that’s a good investment without having to dig a lot into your budget.
I hear you but he came out of the gate being the most aggressive and had the highest paid player ever in college football with Nico and it didn’t work out.He could be more aggressive in portal though.
