Vandy Discussion [split from portal thread]

Just to be clear, Vandy hasn't pulled ahead of us as a program in neither basketball nor football just because of their most successful one season in both sports in decades. They beat us in football as they do every once in awhile. They still didn't make the playoffs. They beat us once in basketball as they often do in a season. They were finished early in the toonament

There’s beating us, and the there’s what vandy did to us this year which was total annihilation and it was in neyland. That’s the scary part. A better coached, stronger team came in and made UT quit at home. That is totally unprecedented and frankly terrifying. I’d trade football coaching staffs with them in a heartbeat and probably NIL budgets too.

They have nationally hot commodity in Byington in hoops too. They have legit coaches.

Uh huh. They had a huge number of grad transfers last year. It's not always going to be like that. Extremely reactionary take. One season, Pal. Get back to me when they can claim a top 5 finish and a playoff appearance in a 5 year stretch. As far a basketball goes, let me know when they make a sweet 16. We won't get into EE talk.

You realize athletes still have to be admitted to the schools they're transferring to, right? Are you under the delusion that someone can skate into Vanderbilt with a dogsh*t track record?
Do you think they care about that if the athlete is who the coach wants?

"passed" is a strong word, but for a fact "on par" is correct. they will no longer be our whipping boy that we can count on beating every year.

Kentucky is still sh!t we will continue to soundly whoop them, but Vandy has tons more money they can invest in football than Kentucky does. If you think Vandy was a breath away from making the CFP and they are just going to walk away and say "good enough" you're willingly ignorant and your hubris is showing.
A lot of people who don't live in the Mid-state can't seem to accept what is happening. I'd dare say they have more access to $$$ donors than UT. By $$$, I mean the ones who can throw sizable money that put in a pot together is a big impact.

Do you have your Vandy degree hanging on the wall in your living room?

I am not going to wade through 7 pages, but this biggest changes to Vandy Athletics has been Candice Lee and Nashville's growth. Donors, Coaching hires and funding will not dry up.

Vanderbilt has dropped their admission standards greatly. It's not the same school academically anymore.

You absolutely can. The only restriction is they can’t accept rising seniors due to some credit limitation. Vandy hasn’t had stricter academic standards for student athletes for years.

It’s not just basketball and football. They swept us in baseball and beat the lady vols in basketball. 3 senior nights for 3 different sports got dropped an L on them by Vandy. That’s unacceptable. “Passed” is a strong term and I’ve used it before, but it only takes a couple of years in a row of this where they do pass us. Might happen, might not happen, but it’s a complete failure on the AD that this is even a conversation.

Money is the factor in who wins and who doesn’t win. Apparently, Vandy has been spending more money on some of their sports than we have and have purchased a lot of good athletes who n a number of sports. If we don’t like it, pay up or shut up. It is rather simple to understand.
