At the risk of sounding too cynical, I would put zero emphasis on years of eligibility remaining. We now know the overwhelming likelihood is that any player will only be with us for one season.

True but we also know that Vol are now a have in hoops and can pay to keep the guys they want.

Absolutely right! Basketball signings are a one-year term now. Some may stick, many will not.

If he didn’t have cancer his senior year, that was a team that could have gone all the way. He was the engine that help make us relevant in basketball again.

I get Tanner is a good player but i dont get the if he doesnt commit the ship is sinking crowd. With the players being assembled by Barnes im sure we can make do without him although we would be so much better with him. But im over this in or out business with these players. Either come here or dont. Life will still be better in Knoxville than Nashville.

hard to turn down a player that caliber, if you have the money…you could go small at times and play Freeman and Haralson together, I guess…🤷‍♂️

If you’re going to spend the money on Freeman, there are equivalently talented players that fit the roster better. We need a bit more size and rim protection. He’s more of a 4. Assuming we do end up with Harris and Hill, we’re basically a two-man front court with Rubin and Brown. Haralson can play the 4, but we need another big body that can absorb some fouls and play closer to the rim. Would much prefer us to spend money on a big ugly if we can find one.

If we want to be a legitimate title contender, beyond Hill we need Harris as a go-to guy. But if we REALLY want to be a favorite, we need another go-to guy, ideally running the point since Rick places so much emphasis on that. Think that’s why so many people want Tanner - he is one of the best at his position and can change a team’s ceiling on his own. If he ends up not portaling, I hope Vols have an ace up their sleeve. All the other movement is incredible, we’ve brought in real quality, but still need that final set of elite players to make the team a real contender.

Here’s a guy with height who averaged 9.5 points a game at Georgetown. Rebound numbers could be better for a guy his size (4.4), BUT he doesn’t turn the ball over and he averaged 74.7% on free throws. Just entered the portal yesterday.

I’ve kind of always had that gut feeling. But a few insiders just said within the last day or 2 that it was the most confident they’ve felt and a visit was set up. Just strange

This poster is probably just miming their mod from yesterday, but they seem to think there’s smoke. Most are skeptical, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his agent is just using us to get more money.

We desperately need another big man or two. Especially seeing last year the injuries, missed games or out for the year in Cade, JP, Arment, Okpara, etc Right now we basically only have 2 inside guys and one freak injury down to only 1. All these wings/guards are great but who is going to rebound????
