I always liked hearing them in the morning. I've never heard them this loud before though. They've cleared a lot of land around here. Makes me wonder if they've pushed the bird population more into this area or something. It has been wild with the birds this year, so loud. Wife got attacked while on a walk in the neighborhood this week. They are nesting even in newspaper boxes. Bad year to be a bug or worm.![]()
We have "psycho" bluebirds here in NM. We put up a bird house in our Ruidoso back yard a few years ago, and Mountain Bluebirds moved in. A week later, we found Mrs. Bluebird attacking our window to chase away the "other" bird she saw in the glass. We had to move the bird house when my wife was attacked while gardening in the back yard! When we moved the bird house about 50' away, Mrs. Bird was OK with that.It has been wild with the birds this year, so loud. Wife got attacked while on a walk in the neighborhood this week. @joevol33 would make a fisherman out of himI’m still inching to take my four old grandson fishing. His dad took him out last year and being his age and high energy, he didn’t quite have the focus and patience to sit on a bank, dip your line in the water, enjoy the quiet and be patient. He’s not there yet, even when gamma is itching to take that boy fishing. My 18 granddaughter, not so much. Though, it’s a work in progress.
5 year old Grandson actually asked me today if we were going fishing after school year is finished. I said of course we are, a chip off the old family block, that young man makes me happy .I’m still inching to take my four old grandson fishing. Vols finna run rule today, well done.Scripture — Psalm 27:1 (NIV)
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”
Reflection
There’s something steady in the way David speaks here. He doesn’t say the Lord gives light—he says the Lord is my light. Not something provided at a distance, but something present.
Light does two things: it shows what’s real, and it removes what hides in the dark. Fear often lives in what’s unclear—what might happen, what could go wrong, what we can’t quite see yet. But David anchors himself in something more certain than outcomes. He anchors in God’s presence.
“The stronghold of my life.”
A stronghold isn’t fragile. It doesn’t depend on conditions being favorable. It holds when pressure comes. David isn’t claiming a life without difficulty—he’s claiming a place of security within it.
Fear loses its grip not because life becomes predictable, but because God becomes central.
And when He is central, fear is no longer in charge.
Prayer
Lord, You are not distant from my life—you are present within it. When fear rises from what I cannot see or control, remind me that You are my light. When I feel exposed or uncertain, be my stronghold. Teach me to anchor myself in who You are, not in what may or may not happen. Let Your presence steady me so that fear no longer leads my decisions. Amen.
My son was the same way at that age and up until a couple years ago. I think hunting helped with his patience a ton. What worked for us was putting a crankbait or a rooster tail on for him and let him just crank away. It kept him a little more focused and bought me some time to fish too. You'd be surprised how long they will actually just cast and crank.........Zebco 33 and a rooster tail works great.I’m still inching to take my four old grandson fishing. That's awesome. My dad would pull my son out of school a day a year to take him fishing. Great motivation to do well in school.5 year old Grandson actually asked me today if we were going fishing after school year is finished. I said of course we are, a chip off the old family block, that young man makes me happy .
