yes he was. My mom retired as office administrator at Brainerd over 30 years and she ran the ticket office for both the football and basketball games. She was very close with Coach High and she is still friends with Coach High to this day even though both retired. Coach High could have easily coached in college if he wanted to and trust me lots of colleges tried to hire him away but he would never leave because his mom and he wanted to stay close to his mom. You would not believe the high profile coaches visiting Brainerd High back then and the office mailbox would stay full of recruiting letters.

Coach High built a dynasty at Brainerd back in the 80's-90 but was eroded because talent started moving out to the suburbs or going to private schools McCallie, Bylor, Boyd-Buchanan, etc. or even leaving to go to high profile programs around Nashville or other states so Brainerd is nowhere like it used to be

So many great players back then at Brainerd from Malcolm Macky, Dwayne Garner, Harris Walker, Jay Price, CJ Black were well known names but also lots of other very good players lesser known who went to smaller schools. One thing about Coach High, he would get his players free rides into college and he used his own money lots of times to support his kids. I grew up with all those guys and they all loved my mom and hung out in the office all the time and I looked up to a bunch of these guys when I was young and they would let me join them in pickup games during the summer which I had no business being. Baseball was my sport. lol Never forget Jay Price caught a alley oop and dunked over me and actually kicked me in the head! lol

This seems like the most likely scenario. Freeman makes little sense considering spots are getting tight if we are to assume we’re landing Harris and Hill. In that case, you’re not wasting a spot on Freeman when what we really need is a true 5 to support Rubin or a PG.
