Also implied we have a chance with Ament...

Sources have told On3 that Tennessee is prepared to spend well over $10 million, and up to potentially $15 million, to put together the 2026-27 basketball roster. The biggest wild card for the Vols is Nate Ament, who is expected to go through the NBA draft process. But if he doesn’t receive the NBA draft grades he is looking for, Tennessee would be well-positioned to bring him back.

Barnes is not waiting to build out the rest of his roster. Tennessee is trending to land Notre Dame forward Jalen Haralson, who visited Knoxville on Tuesday. There’s confidence that the Vols can close this recruitment. Haralson averaged 16.2 points and four rebounds this past season. I’ve logged a prediction in favor of Tennessee.

Atop Tennessee’s transfer portal board is Wake Forest guard Juke Harris. The Vols, along with Michigan and North Carolina, are working to land a commitment from the No. 3 available player in the portal. Speaking with multiple sources on Tuesday, there is growing confidence that Tennessee can close this out.

Harris is expected to land a deal north of $3 million, which Tennessee is ready to pay. Barnes and Wake Forest head coach Steve Forbes are also friendly, which could work in the Vols’ favor. Harris is still going through the NBA draft process, which could drag out a final decision. He earned ACC Most Improved Player honors and averaged 21.4 points per game this past season.

VCU guard Terrence Hill Jr. was at Kansas for a visit on Tuesday, but did not commit to the Jayhawks. He’s scheduled to visit Tennessee next. Hill averaged 15 points and 2.7 rebounds this past season, and would pair well with Ames and possibly Harris.

Another name to keep tabs on, sources told On3, is Boston College forward Jayden Hastings. He’s a name that Tennessee has interest in and he averaged 6.7 points and 5.6 rebounds this past game.

It is not far fetched to think a starting lineup consisting of:

Rubin
Ament
Harris
Lunedblade
Ames

Would probably be the best starting 5 we have ever had under barnes, and we definitely would be one of the best teams in the country if we can get some depth
