Is this the series win that gives the players AND coaches more confidence and propels us on a run? is this like the equivalent of last years TaMu series that propelled them after they struggled all year and got NO HIT by us, then proceeded to beat the brakes off of us the next two games, and then went on a tear down the stretch? We have looked unbeatable and then looked like we may never win another game this year. If we can get our Pitching (relief mostly) to match up at same time with our hitting and vice versa, we can be lethal. Lets hope the team is gelling at the right time and we can go on a bit of a winning streak that will get us back into the playoffs without needing to win the SEC Tourney.

We looked great today and Appenzeller looked great yesterday. I’m not ready to it call some gigantic shift in the force but we’ll see.

Side note: Grindlinger should be batting 2nd. Grimmer 3rd. Ford 4th. Chapman 5th
Brown shouldn't be batting at all right now. He has no plate discipline. I would sit him a weekend series to help get his mind together and regroup.

Grindlinger is a bat for sure but I wouldn't drop Ford or Grimmer. Keep them as is bc they are pretty solid. I am of the mindset you don't mess with the batting order too much once it is set. With that said, if a player is outperforming another and deserves the playing time, then slot him in the players place he is taking over.

Also, with that said, moving Levi Clark down has actually helped him and taken some of the pressure off imo. It worked with him but I don't like wholesale movement of the Batting order.

I just had this conversation this week with some of the other parents on my sons HS varsity team. He bats 2nd, switch hitter, and the top 4 batters at the start of the season were in a bad slump but the coach didn't tinker at all and left them alone and we finished the regular season 17-5 and the top 4 are leading the team now in almost every statistical category. The faith the coach showed in them helped keep their confidence and it paid off.

How’s the bullpen looking for this game 3? Seems like this where we struggled last week.
Good news is, we’ve only used 2 relievers in the first 2 games, so we have a bunch of rested arms available. Bad news is, the two we used are Appenzeller and Arvidsson, the only two who have been reliable. We need Krenzel, Rhudy, Frederick, etc. to step up their game today.

Talking about Brown above needs to sit a bit because of his plate discipline. Well i would like someone to explain to me what these guys do during batting practice. Why is it that most of our guys have a tendency to watch some fat pitches go right down the middle of the plate so often and swing at the balls that are almost so low and off the plate they look like they are going to bounce. And why in the world with the shift on most of the time they dont adjust their focus at the plate to go the opposite way. I played enough as a youngster to know that if you shift your hips just a bit in your stance or take a few inches back from the normal stance at the plate you can get a better look at those pitches they are pitching you inside that jam you or that they are trying to get you to roll over on. Is there some rule in college baseball you have to stand in one position and you cant go against the grain or something. Im just baffled that they talk so much how they worked with Levi on his approach but you never hear anyone mention anyone else adjusting their approach. And i am so tired of hearing Ford is this great hitter and he strikes out so often anymore. I know its harder than it looks from on tv. But i just get so frustrated at some of these plate appearances that so often seem to be predictable. Sorry for the long rant. And by the way these boys done got me wanting the sweep today because watching with my mom i told her going into this weekend there is no way we do good this weekend after State got swept by Georgia. They will come out and stomp the brakes off us. And now here we are with a chance at the unthinkable sweep. Dang boys please top to bottom once get those bats going. GO VOLS!!!!!

I am not ready to go as far as saying this is the series that propels us but it is a step in the right direction. We have done much better this weekend with situational hitting that we have struggled with all season but I believe we still need to plate a few more runs to be able to compete with the top teams.

On the plus side we had two opportunities to melt down in the ninth and didn’t so maybe that is behind us.

Typically in batting practice you swing at everything and hit it as far as you can. No repercussions. I used to like for my varsity guys to only swing at good pitches and I gave them scenarios at least once a week. But when you only have 2 days of practice in college that is hard to do. Once season starts it is hard to find time to fix things.

Brown is going to be a beast. We just need to give him time to cook in the oven. He’s unbelievably talented but that talent is raw. I really just need him to also understand he’s not a finished product and not take every failure so hard. I know there’s a ton of pressure on him to produce, but he’s so damn hard on himself it’s hard for him to get out of his own way

One game at a time sweet Jesus. That Friday game shows how thin the line between success and failure can be. Every game we’ve lost we should have or could have won.

Yesterday, we just flat won a baseball game. Period. Our heart of the lineup disappeared and the other guys got it done. Opposite field hitting and stellar pitching. That has to be a major confidence booster. Sucked the life right out of those bell ringers.

He reminds me of a second year Blake Burke. I wanted to kill him for swinging at down and away junk. Once Burke figured that out he became the hitter he is today.

Agree on Brown. At a minimum he should be getting pinch hit for against lefties late in games. I also agree about not changing the lineup too much, but Grindlinger is our best hitter. He almost never strikes out. Can hit to all sides of the field. Perfect guy to have batting in front of your most powerful hitters.

Please, one game at time. We've only won two games, with a third one to be played today. We could have easily lost the first game if a few bounces had gone differently. Baseball in the SEC is won on the very thin margins.

I understand that, I was just making the comparison to TaMu last and the similarities btw both teams. New Coach, struggling and then bam, the lights came on after we no hit them. Our No Hit game was the LSU series.
