2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

And you don't understand how silly your take is which is why I'm ignoring it. CRB was prepared to pay him over $2 MM...some reports said our final offer was $2.5 MM. CRB ain't paying that much $$$ to a "soft" or "fake" player nor is MI who is paying $3+ MM so just stop the nonsense.
He was not a top priority don’t know what else to say. Nice player but plenty in portal with more upside. He averaged 18 minutes a game.

They missed on better options it sounds like. I see about 10 to 15 post players in portal that are better players.
So...your belief is The reigning national c'ship coach struck out on 10-15 other post players?!?!

This is getting hysterical.

And, before I forget, for your talent eval can you pls remind us how many 'ships have you've won?

I do wonder what the intent of the statement is when you go on a site and post that you don't care.

If you truly did not care, you wouldn't be on the site.

One possibility is that you're expressing a different opinion, but not saying it directly. Perhaps you mean something other than you say, but feel that these words best express it.

Another possibility is that you want others to feel the same way that you do.

In all possibilities you came here and chose this venue in order to select this audience in particular. So it's possible that you care less about the subject being discussed and more about creating a reaction in the audience. That makes me wonder what the value is in reading what you have to say.
Hate to break it to you but plenty of others feel the same way I do. I don’t have to influence anybody. The new world of college sports is doing that already.

Let me simplify it for you. I care about the Vols. Always will. I’ll watch games but I’m not going to sit around and fret over the mercenary signing process. It’s not pleasant watching a revolving door of players and I don’t care what anybody says. As stated, just let me know who’s lining up on opening day and we’ll go from there.

Agree we weren't willing to pay which was my guess from the get go....I trust CRB and staff but it's also likely JP balls out at MI - if you're betting otherwise you better get some really good odds

What’s up with all this whining? How about we let the guys actually take some visits starting tomorrow before we all jump off a cliff. Out here acting like every other school is already racking up portal players left and right. Heck we’ve already got one ourselves.

I understand the point but it’s been reported that the market for big men this year is in the $3-$4 million range considering options are relatively limited. I guess the word “undervalue” is open to interpretation, because it’s subjective and value to one person may be different than baiter. But at least by the market standards we didn’t match.

I know there are injury concerns. I just have a feeling next year we’ll be seeing Estrella as one of the best bigs in the entire country and it’s going to suck.
I expect him to be pretty good too...If he is healthy the whole season. Now, what are the odds of all that coming together? Yeah, not worth a 3 million dollar bet, when you can replace him and have much better odds.

It’s gotten to the point that I just don’t care. Just let me know who’s lining up opening day and we’ll go from there. No sense worrying about it till then. And even then it’s hard to care as much as I used to. Cheering for a bunch of mercenaries is losing its luster quickly.
Ok, but why are you posting so much in a transfer portal thread then?

Barnes has been to three straight Elite 8’s, yet you continue to take unnecessary shots at the guy like he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Your sh*t is old.

Find new material.
But he knows more than the coach who has been to 3 straight EEs and has what 750 plus wins. That’s why he is typing in his mothers basement

Because the narrative coming in from the “insiders” was we were going all in and spending big in the portal.

Plan

Plan still is to spend big. Budget to go up to 20 million if needed. Tanner is still a possibility. People forget that was school he wanted to play for.

So the defending national champion and the team that knocked it out of the park on talent evaluations this year makes it a top priority to get the guy we let walk. Locking him down without even visiting.

Again, more evidence our roster management sucks

LMAO.

Another clueless casual

When was the last time that really happened other than transferring down a level where shot opportunities are much easier? I’ll grant you DJ Burns

Cam Carr I could give you but I also feel like transferring to a really bad team and having high usage on that team so that you’re producing isn’t necessarily being developed. There are a lot of old NBA guys (and current) that score like 30 to 50 for tanking teams who are terrible that wouldn’t produce nearly as much on actual good teams, hence why they never win MVP even with gaudy numbers
c'mon, Cam Carr is a mid-first rounder in the mock drafts. Was he a mid-first rounder here? No. The discussion started with "who developed better after leaving here" and DJ Burns, Cam Carr, and Tobe Awaka are all good examples. It's OK to admit that it happens sometimes.

The portal is only open like 10 more days, Tanner will have to tip his hand well before May
But can't he decide to enter the draft thereby rendering the portal a moot point? For that matter, couldn't he commit to is tonight and still enter the draft kind of like baseball?

There was some friction with JP and his rehab schedule. He had an NBA offensive coach and worked alone over the Summer, but then didn’t practice with the team due to foot pain. There was a bit of a standoff early in the season and some talk of him leaving. I assume that’s what I or someone else alluded to.
