Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Richard G. West has speck!

Here's yet another case. People in our basketball forum have been talking about Tanner as a portal target since at least March 15. That's 24 days ago. So what's this "breaking news"?

West's "scoop" is NOT that Tanner is headed to Tennessee (although that's the hope is using for bait). The "scoop" is not even that Tanner is "likely" to be at UT. The "scoop" is that "sources" (not West) (could be his mom and a guy at the quick stop) have said he is "likely." More likely than not, conservatively considered, equates to a putative rumor at 51% likelihood. Up from his last prediction, which was 50-50.

If the Vols do land him, lil West-ie "predicted" it, you see. But if we don't, lil Dickie never said we would. Tiresome.

Why are you so mad at RW
He’s not on here bragging about insider status

He posts what he wants right or wrong and don’t give a flying **** and actually has a better average the some so called “insiders” lol

At least he doesn’t post exactly when tweets come out to act like an insider

He shoots his shot early

damn did he steal your wife or something….

Cheer up Nancy, it’s Thursday

Dickie West is ballsy

Do better

I think women's bball recruiting rankings arent accurate. Also think that team was very immature, like 5 or 6 frosh.
To me rankings in a lot of sports tend to be based on athleticism and size which is seen at lower levels of the sports especially when players are playing against lower capable players in high school years.

Players athleticism doesn’t mean the players are ball dogs who can use that athleticism when the competition is higher.

Happy Thursday

Luke 5:37 (NIV)
“And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined.”

There’s a quiet honesty in this picture.
New wine is alive—it’s still fermenting, still expanding, still becoming. Old wineskins, though, have already been stretched to their limit. They’ve served their purpose, but they no longer have the flexibility to hold something that’s still growing.
So the issue isn’t the wine.

And it isn’t that the wineskin was bad.
It’s that what once worked can’t always carry what God is doing now.

Jesus is gently pressing on something deeper than habit—He’s speaking to structure. The Pharisees were trying to fit a living, moving work of God into fixed expectations, old rhythms, familiar control. And it simply couldn’t hold.

There’s a personal edge to that.
It’s easy to ask God for something new—clarity, growth, direction—but much harder to release the structures we’ve grown comfortable with. Old patterns. Old assumptions. Even old ways of relating to Him that feel safe because they’re known.

But new work requires room.
Flexibility.
Surrender.
A willingness to be reshaped without fully controlling the outcome.

Sometimes the tension you feel isn’t resistance from God—it’s expansion. And the question isn’t just “What is God doing?” but also “Am I willing to be made new enough to hold it?”

Prayer
Lord, You are always doing something living and active, even when I can’t fully see it. Where I’ve grown rigid—comfortable in patterns that no longer fit—soften me. Give me the humility to release what I’ve outgrown, and the trust to receive what You are forming. Make my heart responsive, not resistant. Stretch me where You need to, but hold me steady in Your care. Let me not lose what You’re pouring because I’m holding too tightly to what used to be. Amen.

Didn't they rule that it was a violation of constitutional rights though? Hard to legislate around that...
“Constitution” can be a broad, general topic. Congress passed the Sherman Act because they have constitutional authority over commerce. Every branch has a check and balance over the other. The Supreme Court will interpret legislation. But Congress can still create legislation on the issue, which they have already tried. I don’t think anyone wants to get rid of NIL- just have some guidelines.

I try to steer clear of private matters, particularly when it involves a player’s health. If coaches are talking about it or the player has, I can share more color. Here I can only say: He’s a good kid going through some hard things. He’s trying to push through. His teammates are supporting him. Hope for the best.
Thank you for this👊🏻
We sometimes forget these are 18-20yo kids.

(To the music from 60's Justice League cartoon) 'Meanwhile in the FF,'

Someone said he grew up carrying an M16 in rice patties & jungles in Pacific.

Other than the obvious, this isn't Ho Chi Minh., and we haven't thankfully had a draft in the last 60 years. Kid should get access to all the care he needs.

Some folks are tone deaf. Doesn't mean they're bad folks. May just mean they're in a different station in life.

My niece and nephews are all in College. There's a ton of pressure to 'belong' these days. Does it make them soft? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Who cares. They're good kids, hell, great kids.

Before I had children myself. And was an uncle. I had an outright pessimistic World View about our future. These kids are great. World is going to be in good hands.

Except for millenials. We're ****ed if they get their ways.

This is completely speculative by me, but I think that CKC was less hands on with recruiting last year due to the new baby and put all of her trust in Coach Lazo since he was the supposed hot shot recruiter. I then think that Coach Lazo recruited the highest possible rated players he could get to improve his resume and didn't care if they fit the system.
