2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Potentially open the door for a 5th year for Gillespie? Says a decision could be weeks or months away but could be in effect for Fall 2026 academic year.

I imagine Tennessee would have its roster pretty much figured out by then but interesting, nonetheless.

Wouldn’t hold my breath . Can’t see what trump can bout this. . This is out his hands. Not politics here lol. He may think that lol

yeah, i totally get what you’re saying on that. i know that rick limits shot attempts on some players, but i feel like to have green light like Ament & JG you got to be able to create. i just don’t think he has anything off the dribble imo.
This. Boswell was a decent 3-pt shooter. I know some will say, "Decent? He shot 38 5%." He shot 28% in the postseason on 25 attempts, which accounted for ⅓ of his attempts on the year. He also shot 56.3% in the non-conf portion of the schedule on 16 attempts. So, at best, he's streaky.

Aside from that, he creates nothing on offense for himself. Not without a high turnover rate, anyway. You could probably count on one hand the number of times he ever got to the basket by driving around his man. When you're that limited on offense, you arent going to be a featured piece.

Brittany needs to relax.

This. I mean I watched him brick wide open 3 after wide open 3. He was streaky but acting like he didn't get chances to score is hilarious.

I think we all love Okpara, and I know per 40s aren't everything but:

Felix 11.9 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 2.2 bpg
Hines 14.3 ppg, 12.2 rpg. 4.9 bpg
I'm guessing foul trouble and conditioning may have led to that minutes restriction. Definitely looks like he could stand to tone up. Medenwald will get to work on that right quick. I believe he also played TE (football) in high school.

What's weird...Boswell's mom obviously didn't understand the meaning of that tweet.

Mashack never averaged taking more than 5 shots a game in his entire career at UT

A career 44% FG and 34% 3PT shooter who increased his % every year under Barnes. Got drafted and now has multiple starts in the NBA. He played his role while a Vol, learning how to contribute in ways other than scoring gave him an opportunity to get drafted and be part of an NBA team where the bench can stretch far longer than just 13 or 15 players with call ups and two way contracts.

I didn't take it as saying Barnes' system doesn't create NBA players...I took it as saying everyone is going to give you the opportunity to chuck up shots, but Barnes will develop you into a complete player beyond that.

Bingo, you can still be a starter with those limitations...but you have to be a Santi type who will absolutely work your ass off for every minute you are on the court on both ends.

Then when the game opens up and shots are there you have to be ready to take them and knock them down.

For all the hate Barnes gets about limiting offense I can't remember him benching anyone for taking good shots. Usually it's a "last shot taken" situation and Burg fires up a 3 with 20 seconds left and no shot clock...or someone with no business doing so will try a fade away while being doubled.

Barnes benches you for making the avoidable mistakes. Moving screens, dumb passes, careless/lazy fouls... all things Bishop & JP were notorious for doing.

Ebuka Okorie is expected to enter. Could also be a backup plan to not getting Tanner
Not sure he'd be a backup plan to Tanner. I'd imagine he's the immediate best player available in the portal.

Unless you are referring to the supposed groundwork we've laid with Tanner which we obviously haven't likely done with Okorie.

I mean they’ve been talking about it for a year + already. Remember when we thought they might make that change in time for ZZ to get a 5th year? EO is totally toothless
I completely agree. It’s basically the House Settlement thing all over again. Just thought it’s an interesting talking point if anything.

I absolutely hate this. If a middle aged 45 year old kicker wants to walk on, then you let him. Age based restriction is not a solution to the euro pros.

Yeah more referring to the groundwork with Tanner. It seems like that’s our preferred option at PG.
