2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Tiller is 6’11” 240, Okpara 6’11” 243…their rebounding and block stats are almost identical, yes he has some perimeter skills but he’s not a 4 and sticking him there would be a disservice to him. He had the switch ability on the defensive end that Barnes loved with Okpara, not saying he couldn’t play some 4, but I see him as a 5.
Flory (listed at 6’9) and Tiller side by side. I really don’t think BT is 6’11. Both looked small compared to Okpara in our matchup as well.

So excited to hear that Evans will mostly likely be returning. He seems like the the kind of player that could really shine in this program. I would love to see him work on his shooting in the offseason. I just love how aggressive he is with on ball defensive and driving downhill. He has the size and skill set to be all sec if he puts together a good offseason.

Update: Evans is considered staying as of 5:45pm est Monday 😂

Guys I’m no insider nor do I want to pretend to be. Like I’ve said before I’m just a fan with a childhood friend who is in the know with basketball. I’m hearing it secondhand and as are all things portal: changes are inevitable and unpredictable.
It makes sense with Boswell leaving that he would more seriously consider staying as there is a better path to playing time

Can’t see their feet so no clue shoe selection in that pic, but I get it, was just saying what they have him listed at

My response would be that you are missing the details of how and why these decisions are being made. They are willing to pay $3M for an All-SEC quality center that has the skill-set that fits our system. We are not willing to pay the current center on our team because some combination of not believing he meets those criteria and/or will be healthy enough to merit that price tag. Your assumption that not paying JP the same amount that Indiana is willing to pay him equates to UT not being willing to pay another center $3M is inaccurate. Same with Boswell. We are willing to pay him the value of a 15-20min per game 6th or 7th man (honestly probably pay more than what that true value is because of his culture value) but he has found a team willing to pay him the value of a 30min per game starter. I guarantee you UT will pay an incoming guard more than what Boswell is getting from wherever he ends up.
Any worries that Tennessee misses out on a big and then has to over compensate on a player that is lesser than Estrella because they lose all leverage?

Better fit than English. And IMO, English isn’t as good and I think he’s overrated as a coach (meaning I don’t think he’s on the level people around here view him to be). I have my own reasons from a coaching standpoint.
Much better fit than English from an organizational and strategic standpoint!

Disagree. I guess it’s just semantics, but I’m not sure how you would define Boswell and Estrella as anything other than major contributors this year. They were key to this team’s success and played major minutes when healthy.
JP averaged 18 minutes per game this year. He and Boswell combined for 16ppg. JP wasn't a great defender, was foul prone and Boswell got cooked by many an opposing guard himself, and had turnover issues during the regular season. Boswell played well in the NCAA T for a couple of games.

Our main contributors are graduating or going to the NBA, like last season.

That’s certainly out of left field, so you’ll definitely be confirming insider status if this one comes to fruition.
Thought it was odd too. Just repeated what I heard. Nothing solidified for sure. Best part about sharing that is that if they decide to go a different route I can give those guys roasting me something to feel good about 😂

Again, semantics. Was he the primary contributor or one of our go-to scorers? No, but when healthy he was a starter and absolutely an impact player and one of the more valuable assets on the team outside of the trio of Okpara, Gillespie, and Ament.

His MPG were affected by his inability to stay healthy early in the year. I think it’s fine to be okay with him leaving, but I’m not sure why people are trying to argue he wasn’t a big contributor to this most recent team.
