….errrrr… attempted name change and removed a Department Title position. Yeahhhhh. Get back with me on that.

We have yet to get the larger of the two ignominious details corrected.

All true, but Danny conducted a low effort search and brought her in. He didn't even search for another coach in men's baseball and we currently sit in the bottom 3 of the SEC. Not impressied with his ability to make good hires. Seems to be a mix of Hamilton and Hart.

Dave Hart hired the completely incompetent Holly Warlick and Phillip Fulmer followed up with equally incompetent Kellie. It is criminal the way Pats legacy has been squandered.

Why would he need to search for another men's basketball coach and what are we in the bottom 3 of the SEC in?

Is this vote supposed to reflect our opinions for the decisions made on just Lady Vols basketball or the entire University’s athletic department?

Low effort/low cost is how he rolls. Soccer coach, baseball coach, women’s basketball…even Heupel. Did I miss any? This guy cares more about spreadsheets than résumés. I hope Rick Barnes outlasts DW at UT. He’ll mail that one in too!

I think they both made some good hires and some bad hires. Dave’s hires tended to be either really good or really bad. Danny has so far done way better with football and has had the good sense to retain Dave’s good hires for much of his tenure.

I think Danny wanted to do a search for a new baseball coach but there was a lot of pressure from the money people around the program, the returning players and incoming players for Elander to get the job.

Oh no! I have not been following baseball at all this season and had no idea they were struggling. 😕 But yeah, when Tony V resigned there was an absolute avalanche of support for Elander. I remember at the time thinking that the force and strength of the idea Elander should become the head coach was such that I worried that if White had done a national search and hired someone else, I could see the entire team bolting. The way the players (and those close to the program) loved Elander, Danny White was in a real bind. And I also remember thinking, "Maybe all these players have it right."

You really just never know.

A similar thing happened in 2024 after Schloss left Texas A&M; the players all advocated for Michael Earley, with the implication being that they would bolt if anyone else was hired. The Aggies gave in and hired Earley, and were rewarded with a barely above .500 record last year and missing the NCAA tournament (and that was with a team that had more talent than our baseball team has this year). Now they are much better this year under Earley, but their fans still aren't that happy.

No fanbase is happy anymore, regardless of the sport. Only one team wins the championship, everybody else is disgruntled. I'm pointing the finger at myself here. The NIL stuff has only hyper magnified this. We have players hitting the portal for more money when they averaged 4 points a game last season! We aren't rooting for "kids" anymore, we are rooting for the TN uniforms and hoping that we have enough money in our coffers to buy the best players. It's unsustainable and people aren't going to have the appetite for spending their money on tickets and merchandise unless the school shows it's able/willing to compete with the best.

Maybe this next lady vol season will be more enjoyable. A team full of underdogs and a HC underdog. Just show us that you care and want to win as badly as we want you to win.
