Comic Books

Super pumped about this Kickstarter collecting Steve Bissette’s Tyrant. If you are into dinosaurs and amazing art it’s definitely ones to pick up.

And speaking of Mutants, did any of you read the New Mutants? I’m slowly grabbing the Sienkiwicz issues. May go back to issue 1 and just collect through the end of Bill’s run.
New Mutants was the first series I started collecting. Have the whole run. Led me into all things X.

I stopped collecting around 2008. Health issues meant bills and I just couldn't afford to collect anymore. Have to admit, I do miss reading comics.

Do you still have your old comics? If so, break them out. Also, your local library will probably have collections and graphic novels.

I go that route on occasion to catch up on storylines that I never had in my collection, or that are older and more expensive than I could afford to make part of my collection.

I love mail days! First appearance of Jigsaw!

I love that issue. Bought it a while back. It’s from Nov 1976. I grabbed a lot of comics with that publication date on the cover. My birth month/year. I know it was on newsstands/in shops a couple of months prior to that, but the NOV on the cover is what I was looking for.

Dec 77 here!

Normally I collect keys, Gambit or Scarecrow covers but when I saw this comic I just really appreciated the artwork on the cover. It’s Detective Comics 880 virgin foil. I think it’s a sweet looking book!

Jock has some very cool Detective Covers. That one is classic. The Black Mirror cover is great too. Issue 871.

I think the original art for this one went up on Heritage recently and pulled 6 figures.

Finally picked up. New Mutants 29. Have issues 1 through the end of the Sienkiewicz run (issue 31) plus a few other random issues.

This spread in issue 29 with Sym has a Sam Keith feel to it with the way the panels bleed into one another. Also, I love how Sam Guthrie is basically a lot of Sienkiewicz self portraits.

Also, @Rocky_Top_Vol13 - tomorrow is the day for the Absolute Batman take on Scarecrow. I’m doing three of the open order covers. No retailer covers.
I've already ordered two of the variant covers myself lol! Once I send them off to get graded I'll post'em up. Make take a hot minute tho. CGC grading has like a 5-8 week turn around. 😬

Couple of things here. This first one was a gift from my dad for no apparent reason other than he knows I collect Gambit comics. It’s the first cameo appearance of Gambit. This predates X-Men 266.

And with this book, I was always a huge fan of the TV show so I couldn’t pass up the first appearance of Negan and Lucile! Also it’s the death of Glen too.

I came across this book a couple of days ago and was curious your thoughts @franklinpence ? Probably won't pull the trigger anytime soon...may keep it on the back burner lol
